XXXIX: Foxes and Hearts

It was around lunchtime and Shard was still unconcious. The three somehow managed to rescue him. Lunch was filled with burgers, steak, salads, and pasta. Suddenly, Arius came out with a small bag. On it was a label titled: "Fox Food".

Sky wondered who that could possibly be for, but before she could respond, Leah was eating the bag. Suddenly there was a faint sound. A sniff. In a single second, Shard woke up, did a somersault across the table, and took the bag.

"BITCH THOSE WERE MINE!!" Leah said. Pierce and Sky were taken back by Leah's unusual behavior. Suddenly the two went ballistic and got into a fight while Pierce and Sky just stood there.

"Should we...?" Pierce said.

"Sure, whatever." Sky said. They pulled the two away from each other. From the looks of it, during that fight, Shard and Leah morphed a bit. They have fox-like ears on top of their heads and fox tails. That's all they had, though.

"What the hell?" Sky said.

"What do you mean? I'm a kitsune. Half fox, half.........human, I guess." Shard said as he ate the chips in the fox food bag. Sky rubbed his tail like someone would do to a cat and Shard immediately blushed.

"D-Don't....do that..." Shard said. Sky shrugged as if to say "whatever."

"This isn't as weird as you think it is..." Leah said.

Later, on the balcony....

"Sky..?" Shard said.

"Yes?" Sky replied.

"Well, last night...when you kissed me..I..enjoyed it. And I finally got the courage to tell you...how I feel." Sky looked at him in the eyes, as if to say the exact same thing.

Almost at the same time, they said: "I like you. I really like you, but I didn't think that you liked me back. I hope things won't be weird." They looked at each other again and simled. Shard sighed in relief as Sky giggled a bit. Why aren't things ever this simple?

"So what now..?" Shard said.

"We try our best. And see how it goes." Sky said as she held his hands.

"Okay." Shard and Sky kissed again. They couldn't understand why, but they knew that they truly loved each other.

"I love you.." Shard said. This caught Sky off guard a bit, but she said it back.

"I love you too."

Meanwhile, Arius, Leah, and Pierce were spying on them, fangirling as if they were watching a teen drama. Shard and Sky turned in their direction, and the three froze in panic.

Soon, the day ended, and as the sun went down over the horizon, the heroes looked back on the desert, and whatever secrets it may hold. That adventure, is for another time.
