~Rooftops and Rejecion~

The moment I stepped onto the roof I wished I would have taken my chances with her mom using me for target practice.

I woke to a hand shaking my shoulder. I groaned and rolled onto my side. I snuggled deeper into the pillow, trying get back into a deep slumber.

"Wake up, dammit!" hissed a female voice.

I was pushed off the bed and fell face first on the carpet. The quick transition from the warm sheets to the cold floor made me abruptly get up. A redhead in her underwear was moving around the blue room, throwing stuff into drawers and her closet. She threw something at me and it hit me in the face. I snatched the material off my face to realize it was my boxers.

The girl, whose name I couldn't remember, hissed, "You have to leave-like right now! My mom just freaking pulled up! And she will kill me-and you-if she catches you!"

I slipped on the boxers and searched for my jeans. I pulled them from under the bed to see the chick pulling a shirt over her head.

"What's the big deal? I can hide in the closet or something," I suggested as I buttoned my Levi's.

"My mom's a cop, remember? She keeps a gun with her at all times," the girl warned.

I stared at her. Ah, shit!

The girl sprayed the air with Febreze while I hunted for my shirt. I checked under the bed then on the other side by her closet. My brain tried to think back to last night. I came up with nothing except us throwing off the other's clothes as we desperately raced to the bed.

Focus! Her mom is going to try and shoot you if she finds you.

"Heads up!" The girl called making my head snap up.

I caught the yellow cotton fabric and yanked it over my head. Now I had to find my shoes. Where could my shoes have been?

"Dammit, damn! She's coming upstairs," the redhead stage whispered. She stood with her back against the door.

"Look for my shoes." I told her.

I checked by her white desk in the corner close to the window.

"Hey-catch!"

I looked over and raised my hand just in time to catch one shoe. The other one hit me right in the temple. I bit back a curse and rubbed my head. A knock sounded on the door. The girl and I froze simultaneously.

"Anna, are you awake? I hear a noise in there," a commanding female voice said.

Anna, so that was her name!

I quickly slipped on my shoes, not bothering with the laces.

"Yeah, Mom, I'm just-looking for my homework." Anna replied.

In another circumstance I probably would have rolled my eyes at her excuse. My mind raced at my chances of leaving here, and without getting assaulted. Anna looked past me and pointed. I turned around and saw the window. I scrambled over and unlatched it.

"Open the door." Her mom demanded.

Anna stammered, "I-I'm not close to it."

I struggled with sliding the window pane up. I forced it up two inches then it got stuck. Oh come on! My heart raced inside my chest.

"Anna. Open the door-now."

Anna said, "Just a minute!"

My hands managed to force the window up all the way as my adrenaline kicked in. I swiftly stepped through the window and onto the roof. I edged over to the side from the window and then I looked down. My body froze.
