I paused from where I stood on the rocky slope, my white-blond hair blowing in the soft wind. I lifted my head, and inhaled the air quietly, closing my eyes while doing so. A strange smell wafted into my nose, and I cringed slightly, realizing it was a dead skunk nearby. I thought quickly about where to go, my eyes narrowing slightly in concentration. Are you alright, Emily? I heard a voice in my head, and I immediately relaxed. I'm alright, Haze I replied back, a smile tugging on the edges of my lips.
I quickly turned my head as I heard a twig snapping behind me, my heightened senses alert for any problems.A pure black wolf stepped out from the trees, its amber eyes studying me quietly. Haze! You startled me! I exclaimed in my head, opening my mouth in a gasp, but no sound coming out. I couldn't have scared you that bad! Haze replied back cheekily, tilting her head at me. I gave her a small frown before I started to chuckle. Your lucky I love you, Haze I said in my head, knowing full-well that she could hear me. Haze let out a low whine, her ears perked forward in interest.
What's wrong? I asked quietly, lifting my lip in a snarl. Haze gave a quick look around, her amber eyes wide and studying the surroundings. Haze, talk to me! I said again, my blue eyes widening. Haze let out a low growl, her eyes glaring at something behind me. Emily, Haze growled in my head, her muzzle wrinkled. I shivered involuntarily, feeling my heartbeat quicken. I slowly turned my head around to see three wolves slowly walk out of the forest behind me, their dark brown gazes focused on both Haze and I. Haze! What do I do! I know we both can fight well, but we can't take on three wolves at the same time! I cried in my head, my eyes quickly glancing around. The tallest one wrinkled its muzzle, its silver coat twitching from muscles underneath.
Haze cast a sideways look to me, and I let out a growl, surprising the new wolves. I surprised Haze as well, I could tell, and I let a small smile to tug onto my lips. "Who are you?" Haze growled loudly, and the silver wolf let out a deep growl of his own. "This is my territory," The rouge snarled, the other two wolves letting out growls of their own as well. Haze snarled at this, and I flinched as the wolves across from started to advance towards Haze, their aggression showing in their eyes.
I growled deep in my throat, making the wolves cast their gazes towards me. You will not touch us I growled in my head, knowing full well the new wolves could hear me. Haze snarled loudly as the silver wolf looked me over, lust filling its gaze. This is not your territory. We have lived her for a while. We have not seen you and your wolves around this territory, nor have we smelt your scent. I let out a low snarl after my comment, letting them know we weren't leaving.
The silver wolf chuckled. "I like myself a fiery wolf," he smirked, making Haze snap her jaws together in anger. "She isn't a wolf!" she snarled, her thick black fur bushed out. The silver wolf cast a long look at me, before looking towards Haze. Haze, what are you doing? They can't know I'm a human! You said no wolves could know! I was freaking out on the inside, but I didn't let it show on the outside, keeping my facial expression cold and aggressive.
"What do you mean, she is not a wolf?" The rouge growled, his voice hard. Haze smirked at the wolf, slightly flinching when his companion, a bright brown wolf, sent an icy glare her way. "I mean exactly what I said. She is not a Wolf. She was born a human, but I adopted her," Haze growled in response. The silver wolf chuckled. "So she has no relation to you? At all?" Haze, what's going to happen to me? I thought silently, aiming my thought for her alone. Haze gave a subtle shrug, before straightening up, holding her head high.
Emily, when I say 'run', I need you to run. As fast as you can. Don't you dare stop, and if you see more wolves, continue running. Don't stop for anything! Haze said in my head, and I tensed quickly, getting a dark feeling about where this whole thing is going. "I still think I'd like myself a fiesty one, regardless if she is Human or not!" Haze sent him a dark glare, curling her lip while snarling. The brown wolf growled at Haze as well as the last wolf, a sandy yellow one. Haze lowered her ears flat against her skull, and I studied the wolves.
