How To Be A Heartbreaker

Feeling adventurous I applied some bubblegum pink lipgloss and rubbed in a little sheer-tinted body lotion. It was times like these that I wished I had a pet to play with in my downtime or when I was nervous. Instead I sat down at my small kitchen table and pulled up the Pinterest app on my phone, checking for the latest trends, tattoo ideas and the laugh of the day. Whoever created that website was a genius.

Harry texted me that he’d be over in about twenty minutes. I turned on the television but didn’t pay it much attention. I wasn’t a real fan of the British talk shows unless I recognized the interviewee. Alan Carr was talking to some up and coming singer I didn’t know when the front door opened and in walked Zak and Louis who looked very surprised to see me there.. although it was my apartment. Louis was wearing a lovely white short-sleeved button-down and red pants. “Hey there! What have you guys been up to today?” I welcomed them with quick hugs. Zak rushed to the bedroom, presumably for an outfit change and Louis sat down on the couch with me. “Just out and about all day. Showing Zak the best places around. How’s it going with you, Rosebud?” He asked me cheerily. Naturally, I smiled back. “It’s good, just had a long school day and studying… the usual fun.” He faked a sentimental face. “Ah… sweet school. How I miss it.” Laughing, I said, “Louis, you are the biggest goofball I’ve ever met. Oh, shoot. Did you need anything to drink? I’m a terrible hostess.” He pondered a moment. “Any type of tea would do well. And don’t put yourself down for being the “hostess with the mostest.”

I didn’t know what I was going to do with two Zaks around. They were great, seriously, but I felt outnumbered. I set the tea down for Louis as he busted out laughing at the television. I raised an eyebrow at him and he answered my unspoken question. “We were on Alan Carr last year.. Best. Interview. Of. All. Time.” Before he could expand on that Zak reappeared in grey skinny jeans, a denim shirt with a patterned black and white shirt underneath and his black perfectly distressed boots. I cannot emphasize this any more: ALWAYS one-upping me.

Louis bit his lip. I felt it was my cue to leave just as the knock came. THANK GOD. I hurried over to let Harry in. He looked perfect in black skinnies, black dress shoes, a white graphic tee and charcoal blazer… His hair messy yet still looking put together. It must have cooled off since I was last out so I grabbed my olive lightweight jacket. Harry and Louis got to joking around and I turned towards Zak for a hug. “I don’t know what your plans are but if you leave, please be sure to lock up.” He rolled his eyes, like I was babying him. “I love you, Zakkie Poo.” Planting a kiss on his cheek I headed towards Louis for a hug goodbye and taking Harry’s hand, we left the flat. His hands were so warm and roughly soft, if that was possible. They were smooth and firm, so it wasn’t like I assumed he’d never worked a day in his life. They were just… familiar.

In the car I asked where we were going and Harry said it was a surprise. Typical. We drove for what seemed like forever until finally, Harry pulled into a subdivision and up to.. a house? What?

For the first time that night Harry wasn’t his normal suave self. He looked downright uncomfortable. “I, uh, know I tend to spring these sort of meetings on you. Out of the blue. But, my Mum and Robin invited me over for supper and I wanted to bring you.”

Holy shit. Not only had he made me meet One Direction on the sly, now I had a surprise meeting with the parents of Harry Styles.
