Awake

"Hey Angel. I hope you can hear me. I'm so worried about you. The doctor said the baby is doing great and that you both are lucky to be alive. I love you so much. Angel please wake up. I don't know if I can do this without you. Please." I heard Andrew crying as he choked on his words. I so badly wanted to grab him in a hug and tell him that I'm okay but my body was frozen.

It broke my heart knowing he was so upset. I heard the doctors coming in every two hours checking my vitals and saying how impressed they are at how much they are already improving.

I drifted in and out of sleep until the morning finally came. I tried to swallow the spit that had gathered in my mouth but it was so dry that I couldn't. Slowly my eyes started to open and the bright lights in my room made me squint until my eyes adjusted.

"Andrew?" I croaked out and his head snapped my direction.
"Oh my Angel! You're awake!" He had the biggest smile on his face I nodded slowly.
"Water." My voice cracked and he handed me a glass of water and I greedily gulped it down and he refilled my glass and I drank it all just like the first one.

"Is the baby okay?" I asked and looked at Andrew.
"He is fine." He smiled and waited for my response.
"It's a boy?" I asked as tears welled up in my eyes at the thought of having a son.
"Yes it is." He smiled as he leaned in to kiss me.

"Get your lips of my sister assface!" Hunter joked as everyone piled in the room.
"Oh shut up!" I teased and stuck out my tongue at my twin brother.
"Oh Emily I'm so sorry for what I said. Please forgive me." He begged as he sat down on the edge of my bed.
"Of course but if you call me fat again I'll kick your ass!" I half heartedly joked.
"You called your pregnant sister fat?" My mom asked as she slapped my brother on the back of the head.
"Y-yes but I didn't mean it! She just eats a lot!" He defended and we all chuckled at his nervousness.
"She is growing a tiny human! You don't ever call a woman fat especially a pregnant one!" My mother scolded my brother and he looked like a child who's parents took his candy away.

"Good morning! Emily I am impressed by how fast you are improving. I want the nurse to take you down to run more tests to make sure you aren't bleeding internally. If the scans come up clean we will have you out of here within the next few hours." The doctor told us as he had a big smile on his face.

The nurse came and took me down to get the scans done and she let Andrew come with us. We were currently arguing about baby names.
"What about Ralph?" Andrew suggested and I scrunched up my eyebrows in disgust.
"Absolutely not!" I interrupted.
"William?" He piped in.
"No."
"Andrew?" He teased and I threw my head back in frustration.
"You're impossible!" I whined as I laid down on the table for my scans.
"No you just won't cooperate! You stubborn woman!" Andrew said as he held my hand after the scan was over.
"No you have bad taste in baby names!" I argued back as the nurse started pushing me back towards my room laughing at me and Andrews argument.
"Okay what about Eugene?" Andrew offered as we walked back into my room joining the rest of our families.
I picked up my empty cup and threw it at him as I laid back down in bed.
"What's going on?" My dad asked as they watched Andrew dodge the cup.
"Tinkerbell here wants to name my son Eugene or Ralph!" I said through clenched teeth.
"Those are both good names!" He defended himself and I looked for more things to throw but there was nothing within my reach.
Our parents and Andrew started throwing out other names and I kept shaking my head.
"What about Mason Michael Thompson?" I suggested and all heads snap my way.
"Angel I love it. It's perfect." Andrew smiled as he pecked my lips gently and everyone agreed.
"Mason it is." Andrew smiled again and I nodded.

I drifted off to sleep with a huge smile on my face. I'm so thankful to be alive and that baby Mason is doing good. I've never been happier. I just couldn't wait for my baby to get here to love and spoil him.
