It was a Saturday and I promised Analia that I was going to help her out with the event at the Milton Hotel. It was located in the upscale district of Wellsworth so I was going to hitch a ride with her on the way there. Not that it was going to be a first for me, I’ve helped her in the past so this would just go on well. The uniforms were provided by Studebaker’s. We were going to wear a white, short sleeved blouse and a gray pencil skirt so I decided to wear my gray platform pumps. I know I’ll be dead on my feet by the time the event is over but it pays to look smart. I was now at Analia’s side braiding my hair and putting on light make up. Thank goodness my bestie decided to be “normal” tonight so she is sporting the brunette look in a simple ponytail.
“Who knows I could meet a young billionaire who would ask me to become his girl.” She joked while putting on her stilettos.
“Yeah, you wish. For all you know we may be rubbing elbows with the snobbish lot who wouldn’t even spare you a glance. So I wouldn’t really keep my hopes up if I were you.”
I was already set to leave and so we were off. I was sitting there in the car carefully contemplating on what Lathan wants to tell me tomorrow. For some unexplainable reason it has kept me up and thinking. I somehow felt the foreboding pull and it made my imagination ran wild. It was not more of what he wanted to say but the tone of his voice when he called me earlier seemed… off. We were going to meet up at the university pool since I had practice.
The car ride to the hote didn’t take very long so as soon as the car was parked we went up to the grand ballroom. We were at the main entrance of the ballroom when a photo in a standee caught my eye.
So it was a function by the Worthington’s. I recognized the picture of Elias Worthington who was the owner of the university who sponsored my scholarship. It was the same picture in a portrait that hung in the main hallway of the school. I have also heard that he does not only have the university but has been supporting various charities in Wellsworth. The man was impressive and an inspiration. Come to think of it, I have never seen any of his family even when there were important events in the school. All communiqués were represented by our school director Dominic Carrington. I glanced at the portrait again and looked into his eyes, that seemed…familiar? I shrugged my shoulder and walked on to the back kitchen to receive our instructions.

So it ends up that Studebaker’s was also providing the finger foods besides the dessert canapés. They brought in a really good sommelier to make sure the drinks are complemented well. I have heard from the grapevine that the Worthington matriarch and the apparent heir are making an appearance tonight. This was unlikely, they said. And Mrs. Worthington spared no expense in meeting her very exquisite taste.
The instructions to us were very simple---smile, serve and skedaddle. The last bit made me suppress a cheeky grin, but fair enough because we were not there to socialize. Though from what I can see from the guests, there were quite a few guys who you can’t help but ogle. They almost look like they came out of a fashion magazine. The ladies were equally astounding with their elegant dresses. One particular lady caught my attention as she was wearing a crimson figure hugging dress. Her back was bare up till the small of her back. A hand was holding her intimately in place and went down lower to squeeze her ass. I then followed the arm up and locked gazes into the icy glare of Mr. Carrington. I froze and turned my back to the direction of a pillar and fanned myself. The woman seemed too young for Mr. Carrington but it wasn’t any of my business. I peeked into their direction and I saw that crimson girl whispered into Mr. Carrington’s ear and they walked out to the direction of the open terrace. That looked kind of creepy but ignored them completely.
