That's?... whoa

‘That’s?... whoa,’ Nolan muttered as his eyes raked over the bubble, trying to take it all in without being blinded.

‘How’d he get there?’ Ringwood asked and I shrugged.

‘I’m as clued out as you…’ I called as I walked over to the bubble to get a closer look.

Ethan appeared to be unconscious but I could see his chest moving confirming that whoever did this doesn’t want him dead, just wants to warn us.

Warn me.

I looked at the bubble and the light it was giving off, looking for any clue.

I sighed, turning back to the others when I gasped, pointing at the shadow on the wall, unable to say anything.

‘E.M.?’ Hale asked, ‘Wh-?’ he started but Nolan cut him off.

‘Emma Marland!’ he whispered, ‘EMMA MARLAND!’ he yelled when I nodded.

‘She's warning us…’ I whispered, reaching my hand out to touch the initials in the shadow.

‘Professor, do you know where Emma is?’ I called as I walked back to the group, heels clicking on the floor.

‘I… I’m afraid to say no,’ Ringwood called as I started to walk with Hale and Nolan back to the lunch room.

‘I’d watch her if I were you…. she brought him here for a reason,’ I shouted over my shoulder as I turned a corner and stopped, pulling Hale and Nolan close.

‘The paper. It was to do with this… She’s planning something… And it’s going to be big. Keep your eyes peeled and never let your guard down… she could strike at any moment…’ I whispered hurriedly as other students began pouring into the corridor for next lesson.

We stepped apart and joined the flow, making our way to Potions and Poisons, never once letting our minds wander from Ethan trapped in the bubble.

Ethan.

Trapped.

In a Bubble.

I stopped and heard myself scream so loud everyone near me covered their ears.

I couldn’t control the scream, it just carried on, filling the corridor with a noise so piercing it sent the other students running into classrooms.

‘GEM!’ Hale yelled his hands over his ears as he walked towards me with Nolan a few steps behind.

‘Oh my god,’ I whispered as my scream cut out and I was able to control my voice again.

‘What’s wrong?’ Nolan asked, rubbing his temples with his fingers.

‘My Boyfriend is UNCONSCIOUS in a BUBBLE in the middle of THE SUPER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME!’ I yelled, emphasising some of the words.

‘Oh that…’ Hale muttered, ‘That’s definitely a good enough reason to deafen the entire student body…’ he added, voice dripping with sarcasm.

‘Oh I know that…’ I snapped back with equal amounts of sarcasm, ‘I…. I just can’t believe I didn’t see it before….’

‘What? Your boyfriend is so pathetic he got knocked out by a girl?’ Hale snapped back making me and Nolan slap him on the arms at the same time.

‘Again, noooo…’ I said, drawing out the word to try and get it into his head, ‘Ringwood can do that…the bubble thing, but Emma’s initials were in the shadow. But I'm sure she was taking us to see something else. The shock on her face when she saw Ethan showed she had no idea he was there,’

‘And?’ Hale asked, folding his arms and looking annoyed.

‘I need to know what she called us away for in the first place…’ I muttered, turning and walking into class, leaving the two idiots standing in the corridor with looks of utter confusion on their faces.
