Chapter 8

JESS POV

"Ok so your homework for this week is to complete this packet" my math teacher says. The whole class groans and packs up their backpacks. The bell rings and everyone rushes for the door. We were about to open the door when a really really loud alarm sounded.

"CLASS I NEED YOU TO HIDE UNDER YOUR DESKS, SKYLER PLEASE TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND CHLOE PLEASE CLOSE THE SHADES" our teacher says. Everyone starts running under their desks and hiding. Chloe runs to the shades and closes them, skylar turns off the lights and they both hide under their desks. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone walk past the window. Its a guy, he's wearing black and has a hood on. I look down and see something in his hand. I look over at daniel..

"There's someone outside" I whisper.

"Who" he says

"I don't know but i think he's why we are hiding under our desks. He has a gun" I say.

"What!!!" Chloe yelps.

"SHHHH" The teacher says. "Everyone please. stay. calm."

We hear screaming in the distance.

"Oh my god" I murmur. "this is just like that day" I start getting sick and dizzy. Before I know it, all I see is black....

I wake up and see my teacher sitting above me, I have a cold wash cloth on my head and a glass of water next to me.

"What happened" I whisper remembering what's going on.

"You past out, someone is still outside honey, stay calm, you are under my desk, I will keep you safe" she says. I take a deep breath "close your eyes, it might make it better"

I hear a scream close to our classroom. What's going on? We wait with the lights off, everyone under the desks for about 45 minutes. We hear someone speak over the intercom.

"Attention all staff, teachers, and students, as you might know, someone got on school grounds, this was a lockdown. There has been some minor casualties with students and faculty. please don't panic. The coast is clear, teachers please have your students gather their things and go to the bus loop to find their parents, thank you."

"Everyone please take your backpacks and go outside. stay in a straight line and walk to the bus loop" my teacher says. I put on my backpack and walk outside with everyone else. we walk to the bus loop and meet everyone. I see my aunt pull up in her car. she runs out of the car and gives me a hug.

"OMG JESS ARE YOU OK I WAS SO WORRIED WHEN I GOT THE CALL FROM THE SCHOOL, I CALLED YOUR MOM AND SHE CAUGHT A FLIGHT HERE. ARE YOU OK?!" She says crying. I start crying and give her a hug again.

"Why do bad things always happen to me?! Why?! I can't do this anymore, the person said that there were a few casualties with students and faculty, what does that mean?!?!" I say getting in the car. Its only 11:00 am.

"Honey, I'm just going to tell you know so you don't find out later, that most likely means that people died." she says sadly.
