Chapter 20 - Alive

"Remind me why I thought this would be a good idea" I said to Tayte as he and I left the house with everyone else in front,

"Because it is a good idea. I told you already that everyone is going to be wrapping you in bubble wrap for a few weeks, but, it'll pass"

So everyone was thrilled to see me up and looking a million times better. It was true, I did feel better, I mean of course I wasn't 100% fully fit, but that would take a while. I was just glad to be up and about. Angelo had thoroughly checked me over and I almost snapped, then you had Talina who was over the moon and acting like a mother hen. Noah and Arii were thrilled, Noah I knew was still not sure I was okay and should be going out though. He kept watching me and every time I caught him I just grinned or stuck my tongue out at him. We were going in Talina's Volvo XC90, which was being driven by Anthony; he was dropping us off and would pick us up when we needed to be picked up later on. I'd slung my crutches in the front and climbed in. I was sat shotgun since they'd all decided there was more room for me and it had the easiest access.

Talina told us that we were going to a traditional African restaurant called Chief Boma's, where you can try all types of African cuisine. It was a buffet style and everyone had already told me I would be sitting down and being waited on. I told them we'd see about that.

Inside of the restaurant was African styled, it was amazing, Arii's eyes lit up and Noah danced along with 3 men who were playing the drums.

"Welcome to Chief Boma's," a cheery man dressed in tribal ware said,

"Hey" We all said cheerfully, Talina then spoke to him and 2 minutes later we were seated at a table. Our drinks order was taken and then we were told to help ourselves to as much food as we wanted.

"Keane we'll get what you want" Noah said,

"How are you meant to know what I like? I'll come up and choose and then you can carry it back for me"

"Well..."

"I'm not a baby, please don't treat me like one. I promise I'm okay guys, I know you're going to be on edge with me until I've fully recovered, but honestly I will tell you this time if I am struggling, need anything or cannot cope"

"You've all been told" Tayte warned,

"So you have the starters, like cold stuff; salads, pastas. Then there are hot curries and dishes like that. The meats separate. You go and chose what you want and put it on a plate and take it over for them to cook it in front of you, the deserts are at the far end" Talina said,

"Cool" Noah said, as we left Talina and headed over; I left one crutch and headed over with one in toe, Tayte grabbed a plate for him and I.

"Don't worry about mine. I don't want much salad"

"Yes boss"

We sat down to a starter of salads and pasta, before heading up again to get some meats.

"Let me taste some of the warthog" Arii said,

"You sure about that" Tayte said, "It's Pumba you're going to be eating"

"Hakuna Matata" She said, I laughed.

Between us we had, Ostrich, Warthog, Impala, Kudu, Steak, Karoo Lamb, Boerewors, Springbok and chicken. There was laughter and simple but pleasant chatter at dinner tonight. I sat back and watched my family; everyone seemed to have a sparkle in their eyes.
