SEXISM

I don't know if I have already posted a "sexism" rant, but I don't care so just deal with it void. (y'know, since I don't know if I even have readers I'mma just call you "the void" or "void". You alright with that, void?)

So, my neighbor is letting me act in one of his Youtube shows, which by the way is extremely geeky, and I met one of his friends. Lets call him... "OH SUPREME KNOWER OF ALL". Yes, I am feeling extremely sassy.

We were talking, well, more my neighbor and his friends were talking, about the avengers. Ya, have you read my fandom imagines book because PIETRO and I wanted to input some of my avengers knowledge into the situation

*"OH SUPREME KNOWER OF ALL" and my neighbor + another friend of his are talking about different avengers, and how they wish there were more.

Me: "But, actually, there are different coast avengers in the comics." I helpfully add, trying to be nice and not interrupt the conversation too much.

"OH SUPREME KNOWER OF ALL": *what I think he was trying to pull off as a mimicing of my voice but actually came out as a valley girl* "Shut up, you obviously know nothing. *turns to other friends, back in normal voice* "Yeah you know, there are west coast avengers, east coast avengers and also these secret avengers."

Neighbor and other friend: "OMG SO COOL *random white boy weirdness going on*"

And later into the conversation, he made another comment VERY similar to the one before and I snapped.

Me: "Will you shut up?" I ask him. Several 'YOU JUST GOT BURNED OOOOOOOOOOs' from the other boys came up, but a much younger boy next to me said...

Younger Child: "Don't be mean to my friend." He said meanly.

Me: Not knowing who he was talking to, I didn't react, at all, but my fists were still balled up.

Younger Child: "Did you hear me?" He says even more angrily.

Me: I look over to him, "Are you talking to me?" I ask, sassiness filling my voice.

Younger child: "Yes" He says with a young kid's defiance ringing through his throat, which I wanted to hold in a choke hold.

Now, do you see why I am angry?

YOU GET MAD AT ME FOR DEFENDING MYSELF?!

I just don't see why this HAPPENS! I HATE IT! SO MUCH! Why is it that when I stand up for myself or am even mildly rude, I get yelled at or accused! If I read this to one of my friends that was a boy, what would he say? Would he honestly not act like this to a girl!

Also, why are girls said not to know anything about these kinds of things? Avengers, comics, and many MANY other things of that nature.

So, I want to start something. I want to get a pixie cut, ride a skateboard, heck, become a lesbian so I don't ever have to deal with guys telling me not to do something.

But then I think, would my mother accept it? And I come out with the simple answer, "No."

And then I ask myself, "Why would she say no?"

Is it what 'punk' or 'rebel' style stands for? Or is it something even stranger about our society... sexism? Is my mother thinking, "Boys wouldn't like her, she wouldn't be accepted."

Why do we live in a world where this is the first thought? We, as the females of the species shouldn't have to dress to impress the males of the species who would be jerks to us no matter how much we impress them?

I'm sorry, just needed to get this off my chest. This really bugs me, REALLY really bugs me. Just decided to let you think about this yourself, see you void!
