I saw the face of a cheater.

He saw me and was in shock. “Mimi! It’s not what it looks like!” He ran up to me. “Mimi she was kissing me I swear!” I couldn’t handle the lies. I ran to the bathroom crying, and Katelyn ran after me.

“OMG. It hasn’t even been one day yet. I knew I shouldn’t have trusted him!” I said to Katelyn.

“Mimi, lets leave. You’re a mess!” She was right I need to leave. I need to go back home. My home. With my abusive mother. There was nowhere else I could go. I accidentally forgot the keys to the Simpson’s house in their house. Time to face my fears.

I leave the mall without even looking at Christian. I arrive at home on the bike. It still looks as scary as usual. I walk in. I can hear my mom upstairs. Crap. How can I get to my room now? I climb up the stairs as quietly as possible.

“Squeak.” Damn it.

“Who’s there?!” Time to face the monster.  “Oh look who’s back, my ugly daughter. Just in time for your punishment!”  She grabs her empty wine glass and throws it at me.

I scream as the glass breaks and there are some shards in my legs. Luckily, when she is drunk she doesn’t have the best aim. My legs are killing me. I stumble to my room but my mom is right behind me, and I don’t care. No one even loves me. No one would care if I died. Just me.

I lie there crying. I look around my room. My One Direction posters all around the room, my brown bureau with my picture of Alli, Cody, and I on top of it. This will be the last thing I see when I'm alive, I hope I enjoy it.

My mom pulls out a knife. Where did she get that? She’s towards me. Hopefully this won’t be that painful.

“Mimi?! Are you okay?” Someone is downstairs. None of my friends know where I live. Who could it be? I hear someone run up the stairs. “Mimi?” It’s Josh. He sees me and my mom. The monster runs at Josh. I stand up, but I’m a little wobbly. I run into the bathroom and get the chloroform. My mom has some so if she gets annoyed with me, she knocks me out.

“Josh catch!” I throw a towel with chloroform on it. He puts it over her mouth and she passes out.

"Thanks!” I can tell he’s a little shaken up. I don’t think he is used to a mom who tries to kill you. You get used to it.

“Let’s leave!” I grab my phone charger and some clothes out of my room and run out.

“Wait! Shouldn’t we call the cops?” I know we should, but she is still my mom.

“No, she’s fine!” We run outside and start walking. I wonder how he found me. “Um, Josh?”

 “Yes? What is it?”

“How did you find me? Did you follow me?” I really hoped he didn’t follow because then I might not want to be friends with him.

“Well not really, I live here,” He points to the house next to mine. “And I saw you go into your house, and when I heard screams I knew I had to come in.”

“Well I’m glad you did, because if not I would probably be dead right now!” I laughed it off.

“Wait. Do you need a place to stay? Because we just moved here and I think we have room for one more!”

“Hmmmm. Sure! Thanks!” We walked into his house. It wasn’t as big as the Simpson’s but it seemed comfortable! Most of the furniture was in boxes.

“Josh! Where were-oh who’s your little girlfriend?” My face turned bright red, and I could tell his was a little pink.

“Mom! She’s not my girlfriend, she’s just a friend!” I giggled.

“Hi, my name is Merriam, but you can call me Mimi!” I shook her hand.

“Mom me and Mimi are going upstairs!” he said as he ushered me to the stairs.

“Ok, just don’t forget to use protection!” his Mom said. I’m starting to love his mom!

“Oh my god! Mom! We’re just fourteen! Bye mom!” We walked into his room. It was huge! All that was in it was a king sized bed and some boxes. “Welcome to Hotel a la Josh.” I giggled. I’m starting to think I have a giggling problem.

“Why thank you!” I said as we sat down on the ground. “So now what?”

“I notice you have an Australian accent. Are you from Australia?” Since when do I have an accent? Oh wait. I wouldn’t know.

“Yes I am, I moved here 2 years ago with my mom. And now I wished I never moved here.”

“That’s so cool! By the way I think your accent is really cute!” I blushed like crazy! “Ok let’s play a kind of game. Let’s both ask each other a question?”

Ok I can handle that. “Ok so, why did you break up with Katelyn?”

“Well, when Katelyn asked me out I had no idea she liked me and I didn’t know how to say no! Me and this girl Rebecca also had this fling going on, and I didn’t want to lead Katelyn on.”

“Oh, I understand! Ok your turn!”

“Umm, have you ever had a boyfriend before?” Oh no.

“Well, kind of, twice. When I was a little girl, I was “dating” my best friend Cody who is still my best friend today. I also dated this guy who cheated on me on the same day he asked me to be his girlfriend. ” I started crying. God, I’m such a loser!

“Oh when did this happen?” He said hugging me. I felt so safe yet sad at the same time.

“Today...” I said half crying. He pulled me in closer.

 “I’m so sorry! I’m sorry I asked!”

“Josh! I’m going to bed! You and your girlfriend have fun!” His mom said from outside the door.

 "Ok, bye mom!”

“I think I’m going to crash too. I’ve had an exhausting day. Where should I sleep? I’m fine on the floor.”

“No! I am not making you sleep on the floor! You almost died today! You need a good rest! I’ll sleep on the floor!”

“I am not kicking you out of your bed! I guess we can sleep together!” What the heck did I just get myself into? I’m technically sleeping with a guy. Wow I’m stupid.

“Um, are you ok with that?

“Yeah! I’m fine I’ll sleep on one side and you on the other!” Seemed convincing enough. I went into Josh’s bathroom and changed into a t-shirt and some mesh shorts that I brought from home. Hopefully, my mom wouldn’t find me here. I walked out to see Josh with his shirt off. God, did he have a six-pack. I couldn’t help staring until he interrupted me,

“See something you like Mimi?” I blushed like crazy. Now I’m starting to think I have a blushing problem too.

“What are you talking about?” I playfully punched him.

I climbed into the right side of the bed while he climbed into the left side. “Goodnight Josh.” I whisper.

“Goodnight Mimi.” Is all I hear before I doze off.

I wake up to find myself alone on the bed. I try to sit up but I can’t. I feel like there is a knife getting stabbed into me every time I try.

“Josh!” I scream. I hear him run up the stairs.

 “What happened?” He looks scared.

“I can’t get up!” He takes out his phone and dials someone’s number.

“Hello? 911? Yes, my friend can’t get up! 225 Church Street! Thank you!” He hangs up as he runs up to my side, as my vision starts to fade. Darkness.
