New flame
I didn't know what I was looking for, my mind was running wild a million dead end streets
Echoes of ticking as I looked beside me, her edges became angelic under the sheets
Through the blinds the sunlight creeped, painting streaks across her body as I watched her sleep
It's this feeling again, the one I couldn't defend,
the same one I felt the day our paths had finally met
one that made my world spin slower and taught me how to take breaths
all the fallen autumn leaves that stifled my heart in the past
I watched them burn into colors at long last
Forgetting every old heartbreak with each new question you asked
We have our days, your phases don't faze me, my words don't just kiss your skin
we have our ways, I misbehave and you make mistakes
it's amazing how we ended up saving each other from the maze we were placed in
sometimes i stare at you without noticing, I ask myself what could be more valuable than this treasure
the pieces, they're falling into place, they're fitting together
I remember the days I tried so hard to get her
Now every night sleeps in my sweater
She dances in front of the mirror as i put on her necklace
She's just being herself, was I this reckless?
To let her steal my heart and leave me this breathless
Or was she that talented, for my eyes and lips were stolen leaving me my mind alone to express
her lips stain my soul each and every night
her heart captures mine with every beat
her body tangled around my mind like a grapevine, stitching every seem, it seems we're almost complete
I placed my ear to her tummy and just like my poetry
It had peeked
She smiled and looked at me, I felt happiness taking place and apart from hers, another heartbeat
