Sarah's POV
We walked into school on Monday morning to find Alex waiting on me. He smiled when he spotted us walk in.
"Hi, Sarah."
"Hey, Alex. What's up?" The others walked off to talk somewhere else.
"I've thought about our next date and I want to help you get over your fear of water."
"What?" I asked in shock and fear.
"Yeah. I figured that I wanted to do something spectacular for my second chance and this is it." I sighed. "We'll start small with a pool."
I shook my head. "If we do it, we do it at a private beach. I don't want to embarrass myself at the public pool."
What? If he was going to make me do it, I might as well not reveal my secret to the whole world.
"Okay."
"When do you want to do it?"
"Tomorrow night."
"Sorry, I have plans tomorrow."
"Wednesday?"
"I think I'm busy all week."
"Then next Monday? Please, I really want to help you."
"Show me that I can trust you to keep me safe between now and next Monday and I'll think about it."
"Okay. Can I walk you to class?"
I smiled and nodded. "Sure."
We caught up as we walked to my chemistry class.
I stopped in front of my classroom. "This is it."
"I guess I'll see you later, beautiful." He kissed my cheek and headed to his own class.
I really did miss him. I walked into class with a smile on my face.
"Why are you all smiley?" Mrs. Jeremy questioned.
"Alex."
"You guys got back together? I thought he didn't trust you." She furrowed her eyebrows.
"I convinced him that I wasn't keeping secrets, so yes, we're back together."
"That's good. I was worried that you wouldn't get back together."
"If we didn't, I could always find someone else and so could he."
"That's where you're wrong. I found out from a book that we found back in high school that mermaids can only fall in love once and once you fall in love with a mermaid, you can never fall in love again."
"How did you know we were in love?"
"The way you look at each other. Alex can never fall in love with anyone but you, and you can never fall in love with anyone but Alex. You're stuck together."
"So, can you tell if the other girls love their boyfriends?'
"They all love their boyfriends and their boyfriends love them back. They're stuck together."
"I can't believe I'm actually stuck to Alex. I mean he's a cool guy and everything, but I didn't really think of us as a forever thing. There's no point in keeping my tail a secret anymore. He'll find out eventually."
"Yes, he will, but he needs to find out on his own. He'll understand. He can never stop loving you."
I smiled. "I know. This secret is such a pain, though."
I set my stuff down at my desk and went up to hers. "I know."
The other girls walked in with Cameron. "Hey. What are you guys talking about?" Alyssa questioned as Cameron hugged her waist.
