Emani usually stays quiet when her peers do or say problematic things, seeing as she's quite shy, but today was her breaking point.

Across the classroom, she hears the familiar voice say a sentence containing a particular word that Emani doesn't take a big liking to. 

The n word. 

She stomps over to the voice, her sneakers padding against the tiled floor. 

"Calum!" She shouts, watching as Calum turns around to face her, a few of his friends doing the same. 

"What the fuck do you want?"

Emani rolls her eyes before crossing her arms across her chest. 

"Calum, stop saying the n word. It's not for you to fucking reclaim."

"I don't see what the big deal is, I have freedom of speech, twitter girl."

"You don't see the big deal?!" She yells, completely disregarding his twitter comment, "The big deal is that it's a racial slur! No matter if you meant it in a racist context, it's still racist as hell."

"Me? Racist? Emani..." He pauses to laugh "some of my best friends are black."

The curly haired girl has to restrain herself from screaming in utter frustration. "You having black friends has nothing to do with your internalized anti-blackness."

Calum steps forward, hovering over the 5'5 girl. 

"If I was as anti-black as you claim, then explain countless proposals I've sent your way in terms of us, hm?" He smirks, brushing a hand over her thigh.

"All those 'proposals', were you saying how you'd like to fuck me and how sexy you find my thighs and brown skin. I'm a black woman, not an ebony sex toy. Don't fetishize me."

The tan boy grins at the riled up girl in front of him. 

"Yeah, yeah. Just call me when you need a fuck." He winks before turning his back on her. 

Emani slumps forward in a feeling of defeat, but before walking back to her desk, she stands on her tippy toes and grabs Calum by the back of his shirt. 

"You're a piece of shit, you know that?"

Calum laughs, prying her small hands off of his shirt. 

"At least I'm not a bitter bitch."
