hey pplz!! how r u??? i feel like icew cream!!! hope u enjoy! :)
Summer’s POV
“Really?” I asked, Jayson had just finished telling me that he was home schooled. We walked over to Baskins and robins, he has chocolate chip ice cream and I have mint choc chip.
Once we had sat down we started playing the questions game. You know that game where someone asks you a question and after you’ve answered it, they have to answer the question they asked you.
“Yeah it’s true,” he confirmed with a mouth full of ice cream.
“So you’ve never been to a proper high school?” I asked in disbelief. It’s not that I’m convinced home schooling doesn’t exists, it’s just that I’ve never met anyone that is, so I find this really interesting. Don’t judge me for it. He just nods his head and puts another spoonful of ice cream in his mouth. He looked so adorable eating his chocolate chip ice cream. Whoa, you did not just think that Summer, you don’t even know him!
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer. Jeesh weren’t you ever told it was rude to stare,” he said waving his spoon around and shaking his head.
“Firstly, yes. I have been told and secondly no. I wasn’t staring.” But he still raised an eyebrow as if he didn’t believe me.
“So, what school do you go to?” he asked, his mouth full of ice cream.
“I go to Awbridge,” I say, looking down at my ice cream. A bit embarrassed of my school. It’s not that it’s a bad school, it’s actually really good, too good sometimes and that’s why I get embarrassed about it. My school has excellent students in all categories, which includes grades, sports, art, drama and music. It’s one of the best in the state. All of my friends are proud that we go there because of the schools status, but I find it quite embarrassing because most people think that I’m really smart after finding out that I go there.
I am smart; it’s just that I don’t act like I am. When I say I don’t act like it, I literally mean I don’t act like I’m smart. So the answer could be the most obvious thing in the world, like I could walk into my bedroom and an elephant could be standing in the middle of the room and Macey could ask if I notice anything different, and I would just say “nope, do you?” Okay maybe I don’t act that dumb, but you get the picture. I like it that way though because then I’m not known as the ‘nerd’ or the ‘smart girl’. Only a handful of people know I’m smart though, like my brother Erik, Macey and of course the teachers.
I was surprised though because Jayson didn’t give me that ‘are you serious’ look or the ‘how did you get in’ look that most strangers give, once they’ve found out what high school I go to. He just kept on eating his ice cream with a smile plastered on his face as if he had no idea what type of school Awbridge was.
“What’s it like going to a normal school?” he asked, pure curiosity taking over his voice.
“There are parts of high school that are like the movies, but over it not really, but it’s all pretty good.” I told him as truthfully as I could without giving him a stereotypical view of a normal high school.
“So what are you?” he asked plopping another spoonful of ice cream in his mouth. Geez how much ice cream does he have?
“Huh?”
“What are you? Popular or a nerd. No don’t answer that, I can already see you as a nerd by what you’re wearing,” he said jokingly. Geez this guy doesn’t understand the word not really. I put a hand over my face, wiping away fake tears deciding to play along.
“Actually no I’m not a nerd, to be perfectly honest I’m really an inbetweener. You know not popular, but not a nerd. But everyone still knows me and no one I know of really hates me. But that’s kind of how it is for everyone that I hang out with.” I tried to explain to Jayson where I belonged in high school and so far I think I’m doing a pretty good job.
