"Are you ever going to get out of this store?" My brother, Andrew, mumbled irritated.
"Jeesh, what's up your butt today?" I stopped pushing the already half-filled cart and turned to my brother raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know. Maybe the fact that we've been here for the past 3 hours." He looked down at me questionably, but I could see that he was strangling me to death in his head. I stared up at him blankly. After, who knows, a minute? I snorted threw my nose and kept walking down the bakery ile.
"Stop being such a baby. We've been here for like, twenty-five minutes at the most." I stopped and looked at the Mexican bread. They looked so fluffy and sweet it made my mouth water. I quickly got a carton box and started placing bread in it.
"Yeah, keep on getting everything that catches your eyes. If you continue like that, in a month you'll be rolling around the house instead of walking." Okay, that's it!
"Look you little brat. If you really don't wanna be here, then get your little ass back to the car and go die." I know, I know. We really show the brother/sister love, don't we? Note the sarcasm. Luckily, there were no people nearby, not that that would affect our comments eitherway.
He gasped in mock horror, "And leave you to eat the whole store and have the world die from the lack of food? I don't think so, Doritos." Oh, there he goes again using his nickname for me, knowing I hate it. He's called me that since I was five and he was nine. No one except my parents and him know about a triangle shaped birthmark I have in the spot below my right ear, the skin there was so translucent that you could see some little veins. I hated it. After he saw that I always hid it with my hair, he quickly catched up and used it to offend me everytime we got in a fight, or to threaten me not to tell him on my parents. Which, always resulted of me crying. Well, back then.
"Ha, you're so funny I'm gonna die." Rolling my eyes I kept on pushing my cart and swtiched on to the chips ile.
"You know, that doesn't sound like a bad idea." He tapped his chin and looked in deep thought.
"Look, if I were to die-" My snippy comment was cut short when all the lights in the store went off. My hand released the bag of chips that I had gotten earlier, falling to the floor. Everything was so silent. I couldn't hear anyone walking or talking, not even a baby crying. My breath caught at the sudden change. To my left I could barely make out a muffled noise, was that Andrew?
"Andrew!" I hissed through my gritted teeth, trying not to make much noise.
"Shhhh," I felt a hand on my shoulder and I froze. I could tell that it wasn't my brother's hand, I don't know how, maybe something to do with sister intuition. "Don't make any noise. Understood?" The whisper sent chills down my spine, and I shuddered in fear. The hand gripped my shoulder tighter, making me wince at the pressure.
Just as I was going to let out a scream, I felt a cloth being pressed into my face. I gasped in surprise, and it quickly turned to silenced coffing. I knew very well what that intoxicating smell was, it was chloroform. I thought about kicking and flinging my arms around, but then I felt another person tying my legs together with duck-tape and my arms being pulled behind my back. I tried my best not to breath but found it impossible after a minute or so, my lungs just couldn't handle it. I did the most stupid thing, but there was no alternative. I breathed. Seconds later I started to see sparks flying around in my darkened vision, my head going woozy. I knew what was coming, and there was no stopping it. Where did Andrew go? With that last thought, I fell into unconciousness.
