Arie's POV
"Hi Arie! How are you today?" Susan asked, she is kind of my boss, but is more of a mother.
"I'm doing well, how are you?" I asked her.
"I'm doing good, I see you brought Zeus and Akin." She said as she stroked Akin's feathers before bending down to pet Zeus.
"Neither would let me out of the house until I offered to bring them along." I said to her. Akin was an injured hawk that was spotted on the side of the road. So naturally I was sent to go grab him. Don't ask me why, but all animals seem to calm down when I'm near. Akin hasn't left my side since. He goes and hunts but he always comes back.
Ring ring ring!!!!
"Could you grab that?" Susan asked as she lifted the feed bucket. I nodded and answered the phone.
"Wild for Animals wild or pets rescue shelter, this is Arie." I said.
"Oh thank God! This is Mike, from down the block, I'm on the Burban trail and I spotted a few injured wolves." He said.
"Can you still see them?" I asked as I grabbed a pen and paper.
"Yes, and they are huge!" He said.
"How far down the trail? Coming from the shelter?" I asked. All the trails crossed near the shelter at some point just for this reason.
"A mile and a half, maybe." He said.
"I'll be there in approximately seven minutes." I said.
"Please hurry!" He added. I quickly hung up on him before running out the back door, hollering at Susan where I was going and why. Akin and Zeus followed me to the door.
"No! Zeus, it's a couple of wolves! You are not allowed to go and Akin, I'm not upsetting him by taking you along! I'll call if I need help." I said as I jumped in the mule and raced down the trail, keeping my eyes peeled for injured wolves. I suddenly saw Mike and hit the break. In front of him were three wolves that were far too big to be normal.
"Mike, move!" I said with as much force as I could. He moved out of my way and I carefully pulled the mule forward. All three were growling at me.
Human!
Kill!
Wknwidkenjak
I flinched, I'd never come across an animal so angry that its words were just a jumble pile of nothingness.
"Calm down, I won't hurt you." I told them soothingly.
Lie
Lie
Lie
They all shouted at me. One tried to get up and looked ready to attack me before a huge black wolf came bounding from the trees and got between me and the other wolf.
She is mine! I will protect her! It screamed.
"Mike get out of here!" I said, I glanced behind me and noticed that he had already gone. Figures I thought to myself. Another wolf appeared, only this one was slightly smaller than its partner and it was a reddish brown color.
Alpha! She is human! Leave her! The wolf said. The black wolf just growled, both mentally and physically. The injured wolf took that moment to attack. Its surprise attack allowed it to have an advantage on the black wolf. The red wolf moved to the other two that were starting to stand, seeming to forget about their injuries.
Rogues! You should learn your lesson!
You should probably teach your patrol how to fight!
