I made a sharp turn with my steering wheel. It was the busiest shopping day of the year, of course I was desperate. Desperate for a spot to park my sparkling Mazda. I feared the fact that I could possibly never find a parking space but I had to keep scavenging, after all, the kids needed Christmas presents. The day was dragging out, and still no park available. Every so often I would 'spot' a free parking space. Every time I excitedly came around I soon realized some stupid little motorcycle was taking up the entire space!
"You've got to be kidding me!" I would mumble to myself occasionally.
I finally came around to a free spot, and was about to turn into the park when suddenly some person thought it was okay to quickly drive in and steal it away from me! Without any thought I pulled up the hand break and jumped out of my car. As the woman hopped out of her car, I closely examined her from head to toe. She had perfect dark brown curls, beautiful green eyes and the ultimate tan. It didn't make things any better, I wanted to scream at her even louder. I charged towards her, ready to attack.
"Excuse me, since when do you think it's 'okay' to steal someone's park?" I said with great anger towards her.
"Excuse me? This is my park fair and square." She said in a disgusted tone.
I didn't know why she was the disgusted one.
"Listen, 'mate', I've been looking for a spot for almost an hour, so would you be a 'darling' and get out of my parking space!" I brutally barked at her, passing a cold glance.
Everything fell silent and the atmosphere suddenly felt very awkward.
I was struck by a feeling of guilty regret but tried to push the feeling away. I suddenly knew why I felt so bad. I was always so caught up in teaching my children to be nice to one another, that I clearly forgot about my own selfish acts. I could finally see, everything was so clear, I had to change my ways. But before I could she said, "You can have the parking space, you seem to need it more than I do." She said, with a sense of carelessness in her voice.
Without another thought, I scattered into my car and grabbed my purse, eager to find some loose change. I finally found a few cents and rushed back towards the woman's car. Instead of attacking her, I inserted the change into the parking meter where she had parked.
"That should last you four hours." I said feeling good about the way I had resolved the situation.
She seemed shocked about the level of kindness shown. I didn't speak another word, I just drove off.
"Wait until I tell my children the story of my 'Kind' heart!" I muttered in utter confidence.
