The fuzzy sound of a record echoed through the old dark house. Meri tip toed down the stairs into the living room. Cringing from the cold tile floor.
"Can you turn that off? She said thinking that it was one of her family members who couldn't sleep on this loud night. The record turned off making the pitch black room dead with silence. She breathed in a deep breathe of relief that she didn't have to argue with whoever was in the room.
"Thank you." Meri turned around to go back up the long spiral staircase but froze when she saw a man in dark clothes and a mask. The mask was made of Playtex and covered his whole head.
The horrifying image of a man in a rabbit mask will be edged in her mind forever. Meri heard an awful scream, it was her scream. She turned and ran into darkness.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Music Danced in her ear finding its way into her brain. Her eyes flew open, slowly adjusting to the foggy, humid air. She was hanging from bloody, silver chains. Pain shriveled her muscles, sending shockwaves through her body.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Meri looked at the ceiling and saw thick, red liquid falling to a puddle on the floor. The music still played. Under her fiercely dangling body were sharp shiny blades, rubbing against her numb feet. Slowly slicing away layer by layer of the soles of her feet.
She tried to scream but the words were stuck to her throat as if cotton balls barricaded anything from getting through. A single tear slid down her flushed cheek. She was taken, alone and with no way out.
