"Come on, babe." Kevin egged on, egger to look around. It's not every day you get to see a deserted carnival, especially on such an eerie night. The moon was out, stars at just the right angle...it was perfectly cryptic. "I-I'm coming jerk, and don't call me that!" Eli had said, maneuvering through the broken wooden gate.
"they say this place is home to dozens of dead kids souls! If you see one then they'll take you away with them, for good." Eli rolled his eyes at the obvious attempt to scare him, "are you serious...? Then why are you so eager to meet one?" Kevin just smirked and said, "to make awesome memories! We'll never be this young, or old again!"
The fog was thin but was slowly creeping over them. "couldn't we've done it on a less foggy night?" Kevin jumped down the hill of dirt, sliding down it. "hell no!" Eli rolled his eyes and followed quickly behind.
As they stepped towards the former toll booth, in the carnival, beyond the gate, was practically nothing but fog, like that's where the cities fog originates from. "holy..." Kevin ended with a smirk before rushing in like a mad man. "come on Babe!" Eli quickly chasing after his stupid friend.
Eli slowed his pace as he realized he'd just blindly run into the mother of all deserted places, he turned back and could see the exit glazed over in fog. He sighed and continued his pursuit of his friend. As he walked the fog lightened but only to see about 30 feet in front of him.
"hey! Over here!!" Kevin screamed from in front of a gypsy doll fortune teller. "let's try it!" he reached in his pocket and pulled out a few quarters.
"please, those things never work." Eli stated, "have you tried one?" Kevin asked quietly to which Eli nodded. "the thing just jacked my quarters and turned off." Kevin's eyes shined, "then you probably just weren't ready to hear your fortune! Duh!"
"but even I-" Eli was cut off as Kevin put in the quarters and the machine puppet shot up.
As a little voice echoed from the rusty things mouth it said "to whom which don't believe the moment you doubt, you shall not hear the words of fate...it shall elude you with all it's might, learn to live freely for faith and trust shall be restored this next blue moooon..." the machine shut off and under neither a little ball fell out that read "believe" Kevin jumped up and down excitedly "dude that thing was like speaking right at you! No joke! My turn!" he popped three more quarters into the machine.
They watched it come to life again. "ahh, I see a bright future in the near coming...filled with luck and friendship. Your mouth speaks rhymes and your heart riddles. You're filled with hope and brimming youth. you possess the brightest eyes. You see them too, don't you? Learn to be more outspoken as you may need it soooon..." the little orb rolled out of the pocket. As he picked it up it read, "trust"
Kevin looked up to Eli and grinned like a Cheshire cat. "come on babe let's check out some of these rides!!" he grabbed his had and ran off to the tallest ride. Most defiantly the scariest as well, it was at least 80 feet tall at the peak, and through the top of the enormous haunted house maze. The tip of it almost touching the moon. "t-there..." Kevin's voice began to crack.
Eli looked over to his friend "isn't that the one you snuck into that they had to stop the ride because you were so scared?" Kevin lowered his head. "yea, but lets go anyways." the fog began to rethinking as they went in. the whole place was like a trap. Hallways going on forever, fog reaching inside, dusting over the ground. The whole time Kevin making sure not to let go of Eli's hand.
After a while Kevin's hand loosened as he'd gotten some confidence.
While they were walking the mysterious fog had continued to rise, "Kevin, don't let go of my hand ok?" Eli yelled as the fog was up over their heads. He got no answer but could feel his hand still, so everything was fine.
