Industry expert Ricardo Inc. was retained to conduct an extensive Architecture Trade Study and their findings have led them to validate the MultiStage Switched Reluctance Motor (MSRM) for use in all commercial transportation applications. Studies show the MSRM system will significantly reduce fuel use and emissions while enhancing vehicle safety, affordability and performance.
As part of the study,Ricardo proposed a commercialization plan for the MSRM, outlining how it can be used in medium and heavy duty trucks, buses, delivery vans and refuse haulers, where fuel efficiency, reduction of Green House Gases (GHG) and high starting torque are required.
The MSRM has been bench tested for over 11,000 continuous hours, and was road tested in a highway demonstration vehicle. Extensive Ontario Hydro Technology Laboratory studies and sophisticated MatLab computer simulations verified the cost, efficiency and performance benefits of the technology.
The MSRM high torque capability and high reliability allows replacement of both engine and transmission, a game changing advantage over any other products available in the market. The MSRM can be used in a broad range of products from hybrid vehicles and wind turbines, to cranes, elevators and military equipment, anywhere a gearbox or torque converter is currently required.
