*Maroon*
"Maroon, would you mind going to the beauty supply store for me? I need a few boxes of the black hair dye. You know that a lot of people that come in here tend to want their hair dyed black. I'm running out of it." I looked up from the floor and set the broom aside, watching my Aunt Payge as she spoke to me.
"Of course, Aunt Payge. Do you need anything else while I'm there?" I replied before sweeping up the pile of hair on the floor and dumping it in the garbage can.
"Probably a can or two of hairspray, if you don't mind. You know which one to get." Aunt Payge instructed as she tossed me her credit card.
I nodded my head to let her know I understood. Then, I walked out the door and went to the back parking lot, which was reserved for just the employees. To be honest, was just me and Aunt Payge. I made sure the credit card was securely in my pocket, and hopped onto my bike.
The beauty supply store was only across the salon, so it didn't take me long to get there. When I arrived, I chained my bike to a pole and entered the shop.
"Good morning, Maroon. Are you here for the usual?" Pat greeted me as I walked past the counter.
Pat was the owner of the store, and I came here for my Aunt quite often, so Pat and I were well aquatinted.
"Yes ma'am. I'm just going to look around for moment this time. The salon doesn't open until an hour from now." I replied with a smile.
"Go right ahead, dear. You probably aren't surprised, but I have your usual right here behind the counter. Three boxes of jet black hair dye, and two bottles of hairspray. You can look around some, and if you see something you like, don't be afraid to get it." Pat said as she leaned her right arm on the counter.
"Thanks, Pat. But I don't have the money to buy anything for myself. I only have Aunt Payge's card, and that's only for her supplies." I replied as I began to browse through the makeup.
"Don't worry about it. One thing is fine. It's on me." Pat said and I laughed a bit.
"You don't have to, Pat. Besides, you know that I don't know anything about fashion. Like, I can't do my hair, I can't do makeup, I can't even dress right. I just look like a slop." I said and she walked around the counter to walk to me.
"Well, I can help. Name one thing you want. Any price range. It can be anywhere from an eyeshadow palette to even a wig." Pat said and walked down the makeup aisle with me.
"A wig? Why would I want a wig?" I questioned and looked at her.
"I don't know. Maybe to just have a little fun and mess around." Pat said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Well, that does sound a little fun, and random. But, I guess I'll get a wig." I replied and ran my fingers through my tangled brown hair.
"You would look great with black hair, actually." Pat said as she led me to the wigs. "Or blonde. You choose."
I looked at all the options. There were so many shades of so many colors, there were so many lengths, and so many styles.
"Oh wow. Uh, I guess maybe blonde?" I said and looked at all the wigs.
"This one would be perfect for you." Pat said and grabbed one before placing it on my head. "It looks great, Maroon." She smiled as she showed me a mirror.
"Wow. I look.. Uh..." I paused, trying to think of the words to say. I was shocked. "Different."
"Do you like it?" Pat questioned and I carefully rubbed my hands against the long, light blonde wig that was placed perfectly on my head. It was beautiful and looked so real. It felt nice and smooth.
