A/n: Hey guys!
Check out the amazing trailer made by savvyinpink. The cover for this story will most likely change every week or so because I've received a lot of amazing covers from different people.
I yawned as the obnoxious sound of my alarm going off sounded through the whole room, waking me from my blissful sleep. I didn't need to go to work today but I had decided on setting my alarm anyway, otherwise I would've stayed in bed way too late and my day would be ruined.
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stretched my neck, which hurt from the weird position I had been laying in. I decided on taking a shower when my phone started ringing. I sighed before walking over to it and picking it up.
"Hello?" I spoke in the phone while sitting back down on my bed.
"Miss Clark? This is officer Jeff Dawson, I'm calling you because I just received the results on the letters that you gave me." To be honest, I hadn't expected for him to call me so soon, I had expected it to at least take a few weeks before they had everything figured out. That is if they found anything.
"Oh, yes, of course. Good morning Mr. Dawson. Did you find anything?" I asked him, chewing on my nails in a nervous matter. I noticed something moving in the corner of my eye, when I turned my head I saw it was Niall who had taken a seat next to me on the bed, an expression on his face as if he was asking me what was going on. I moved a finger to my lips to make sure he wouldn't say anything.
"I'm going to have to dissapoint you, Miss Clark. My colleagues haven't been able to find anything that could be of use for the investigation." So there's an investigation now? I thought they weren't able to do anything.
"Is there something else I can do to help?" I asked, dissapointed that the letters hadn't been of use.
"If you receive more letters or if anything else suspicious happens, give us a call, immediately. We'll do what we can but right now, we really can't do anything else for you, I'm sorry." I could hear that he really felt bad for not being able to help me any further.
"Alright, thank you, officer Dawson." Niall was still making stupid faces, trying to make me tell him what I had found out. Not that I had found anything. "Have a nice day, Miss Clark." He said before we both hung up the phone.
"Was that the police station? Did they find out anything? Is there a suspect? It's Ethan, isn't it? I knew it was Ethan! I fucking knew it!" Niall rambled before I pressed a hand over his mouth, shutting him up immediately. "Will you shut up and let me talk?" I laughed. He really reminded me of a child sometimes.
I moved my hand away from his face and started talking. "They haven't found anything, there weren't any fingerprints on the letters other than mine and the officer's ones."
"Are you serious?" Niall asked me, throwing his hands up while he groaned.
"I really have no idea what to do, Niall. Is the person who is sending the letters the same person that killed you and your parents?" He cringed when I mentioned his and his parent's death so I shot him an apologetic look before continuing. "Or is it a completely different person? How am I ever going to find the person who did this to you? I don't have a clue, Niall. I don't know what to do and it's driving me c-crazy." I choked out the last words, a single tear rolling down my cheek.
"Hey, hey, calm down." Niall spoke, wiping away the tear that had rolled down my cheek with his thumb, smiling at me. "You don't know how thankful I am that you're doing this for me. We'll find a way, okay? You're not alone, you have me." He said, brushing a few strands of hair out of my face.
"And now get up and go shower, you smell." He laughed. I gasped and looked at him and shock. "You can't even smell!" He replied, pushing him which made him fall backwards on the bed.
"No, but you look like you smell." He smirked.

After a few minutes of persuading Niall to leave while I went to take a shower, he had left and I was able to undress. I stepped in the shower, letting the warm water relax my muscles. After about ten minutes, I turned off the water and got out and wrapped a rather small towel around my body. I had forgot to take a bigger one with me so this one will have to do for now.
I almost dropped the towel when I noticed Niall sitting on my bed, one of my books in his hands. "Hey, Riley, I thought of something-" He started before looking up at my almost naked body. His eyes widened and I took a few steps back, he was still a guy after all. Dead or not, I don't want someone seeing me half naked. "Shit." He hissed, looking at me while he took a few steps back as well.
But something about him was different, he almost didn't look dead anymore. His body had gained more color, more life. The color of his skin almost looked human again, almost. I remember how he looked before, greyish and as if his body consisted of smoke. Now, his body looked like it consisted of actual human flesh.
After a while of taking it all in, I finally found my voice. "Niall! Seriously, get out!" I raised my voice slightly, throwing a pillow at him which landed a few feet away from him, due to my terrible aim.
He kept staring at me for a few more seconds before disappearing.

After the awkward encounter with Niall, I had gotten dressed and started making my way downstairs. I was about to open the front door to get some air and enjoy the sunny weather when Niall appeared in front of me.
"Riley, don't, stay inside." He said, gently pushing me back. What? "Get out of the way, Niall, I just want to open the door." I replied, slightly annoyed. I made my way around him and opened the front door like I had planned to do. What I found when I did, made me wish that I listened to Niall.
There was a body laying on the porch, a dead body. The whole area was scattered with blood, as if it had been dragged to my porch from somewhere else. I clasped a hand over my mouth and stepped back, bumping in to Niall who wrapped his arms around me from behind. My breathing became ragged and my vision started to blur. "Riley! Hey!" Niall turned me around in his arms and shook me gently, making me realise what was going on. I pushed him away from me and stumbled out the door, back to the body that was placed on my front porch. When I came closer, I saw that it wasn't just anyone, I knew this person.
It was Ethan.
"O-oh my g-god.. Ethan!" I yelled, trying to find out if he still had a pulse. Which he hadn't, obviously. Blood covered my hands as I desperately tried to find any signs of life. He couldn't be dead, he just couldn't. Bastards like Ethan weren't supposed to die, bastards like him always escaped death in almost every movie.
But this wasn't a movie, this was my life.
Niall was trying to pull me away from Ethan's body, saying things that I didn't understand or just couldn't hear. It was then when I noticed a small note covered in blood sticking to Ethan's chest.
"I told you to find me, Riley. Why aren't you looking for me? I'm waiting."
