Dear Mom,

Time brings wrinkles and little creases,

There will be more your memory releases.

Strength will wither and energy will fade,

Your favorite drink will become lemonade.

You'll sit in rocking chairs as old music plays,

The calendar will fill with grand-kid's birthdays.

Your clothes and interests will go out of style,

But you will spend your days wearing a smile.

Your bible will live right next to your bed,

And silver will flow from your precious head.

You'll call your children just to see how we are,

We'll promise to never move away too far.

Your life will slow down and you'll write your book,

You'll come to my house and teach my wife how to cook.

I'll make you proud and whenever I am praised,

I'll say it's all from the lord and how I was raised.

You'll always be with me in person or in spirit,

You'll speak to my heart and pray that I hear it.

Of course you'll be stubborn and we'll always argue,

But I'll wrap you in a hug and say that I love you.

You'll be an example for as long as you live,

As long as you breathe you'll have something to give.

You'll be my best friend for all of my days,

Mom, I love you, forever and always.
