Everyone leaves? Yeah I guess that is true. I was watching reruns of One Tree Hill on a Sunday. I had no where else to be. I agree with that line "everyone leaves".
My dad left us when I was 8. My mom isn't really around anymore. She is usually off getting drunk or bringing guys home, who ended up beating me and my brother. Then my brother left when he was 17 because of it. He left me alone with these men. The few friends that I actually have are good. But they don't get what is going on. They just think that I am a stuck up cheerleader who hates her family, at least that is what I want them to think.
Besides, who would believe a cheerleader who says that she is being beaten at home. People would think that I was just asking for attention. I mean really I don't think anyone would care. Sometimes I wish that I had never tried out for cheerleading. The only reason that I did was because my best friend Kendall wanted me to. While she is my best friend, she doesn't know everything. She knows about my dad and brother leaving and she knows about my moms "job" and drinking problem but that's it.
My phone started ringing and I knew it was Kendall. She is the only one who ever calls me.
"Hey."
"Hey. what are you doing?"
"Sitting on my bed watching One Tree Hill."
"You have seen it a millon times. You should come to the beach with us."
"I don't know. I am not really in the wearing a swim suit mood" Meaning I have bruises on my stomach and don't want to show them.
"Oh come on. Please?"
"Ken, how about I go next week? I could stay at your house for the weekend and go."
"Fine, but I am holding you to it."
"Ok sounds great."
"So you should come over and stay the night with me tonight. We don't have school tomorrow and we can have a girls night."
"You mean you can tell me all about your date with Jonathan."
"Exactly!"
"Sure. I will be there soon."
I started getting a bag together and headed to Kendall's. She lived about 10 miles from my house. My dad's parents have actually been the ones that have been taking care of me. They bought my care for me and pay the insurance. While also giving me money every week. Unfortunately they live in California so I see them about once every year. But if it wasn't for them I would not make it.
