Chapter 3
We walked back to the beach house with Luke’s arm draped over my shoulder and my arm around his waist. I felt genuinely happy. My mom always loved Luke. She used to joke that we would get together someday. Back then, I just thought she was insane. Now I know why she thought that.
Once there, I grabbed my back and walked to the restroom to shower and get ready and Luke went to do the same. I showered and re-applied my make-up and blow dried my hair until the loose curls hung low on my back. I grabbed my bag and put on the white summer dress that was strapless with a blue satin ribbon under the bust. I looked in the mirror and actually felt beautiful.
I smiled and it seemed to reach my eyes unlike before. I walked out to see Luke sitting on the couch watching ESPN. I cleared my throat and he jumped up startled and quickly turned off the TV. His eyes raked over my body and he smiled. “Damn Daf, you look gorgeous.” I laughed taking in his outfit. He had on khakis, a white button up polo with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a couple of buttons left open to show a little of his gorgeous chest. My gosh, I had butterflies flying all over my stomach and my heart was beating a little faster than normal. I managed to say “You don’t look so bad yourself.” He walked over to me.
We hadn’t even kissed since earlier but I realized it was about to happen again. He put his index finger under my chin and pulled it up so that our lips met. He gently kissed me and pulled away. My lips tingled where his lips had been so I tiptoed and pecked his lips once more. He smiled. “I can’t believe we’ve waited so long to do that. You’re so damn gorgeous Daf. I’ve never had this feeling before. It’s different. Good different.” I laughed. “I know what you mean. We should go.” I barely managed to say. He took my breath away.
He grabbed his keys and led me out the door. On the drive there I thought about the previous boyfriends I’d had. Things were never like this. I’d never gotten that tingling sensation or even butterflies before. I was definitely in for a good time. Luke broke me out of my thoughts when he said, “You’re pretty quiet. Is everything ok?” I nodded, “Yep, I’m just taking it all in.” He took one hand off the wheel and grabbed mine putting it in his lap intertwining our fingers. That felt good. Luke was right. I really couldn’t believe we had waited this long.
Luke’s POV
Damn she looked gorgeous! She was so beautiful. I’d never really noticed. Seeing her on my porch yesterday, I noticed she made my heart race. I couldn’t believe how gorgeous she was. Then later on seeing her in her panties and bra had really got me going. Her body was amazing. She’s really grown up and lost some weight. I guess all the stress with her mom. Not that she was ever fat or anything just now she was WOW. I had noticed.
I looked over and her hazel eyes were glowing. She hadn’t been happy in a while. I was glad that it was me that was giving her life again and not some other jerk who wouldn’t appreciate her. She happened to look over at me while I was looking and she asked, “What? Do I have a make-up line or something?” I laughed and nodded, “No you’re just so beautiful.” I saw the blush rise in her cheeks as she got embarrassed and turned away. I chuckled lightly. Gosh that was cute.
She squeezed my hand and said, “Pay attention to the road. I don’t want to die on our first date.” I laughed and turned my eyes back to the road, glancing every once in a while back at her. We arrived at the Italian restaurant and I told the Maître d' a party of two. He sat us in a booth. It really was a nice setting with candles the only lighting at our table. I watched Daf and she looked around and I could tell she liked it. I smiled.
