Paranormal Witness: Season 2, Episode 10.1

The following events originally occurred in London, Ohio between 1981 and 1982...

The Cabin

The murky night sky cast over London, feigning a sombre haze over the damp, cobbled streets. From inside, Sarah heard the vicious wind collide against the window. Trees flailed helplessly, struggling to stay rooted to the earth, and former scattered newspapers from the week before flew in the air, accompanied by the strong meanders of wind. Sarah stood by the sink, staring absentmindedly through the window as she rinsed yet another plate. This kind of weather was strange for July, but Sarah was just glad to be inside. Tired brown eyes shifted down to the plate to discover a crack.

“Again?” she muttered to herself, brows furrowed. “Who keeps manhandling my damn plates?”

Just then she spotted ferocious lightning outside in the distance, causing her to flinch. She put the last plate away and turned the tap off, drying her hands on the cloth as she continued to watch the sky. It was an odd purple-blue colour. She had never seen such a thing before. Living on the outskirts of town meant she was used to nature and fresh land, but something like this was...dodgy. Fortunately her kitchen window faced the nearby woods, so she was able to see the beautiful scenery whenever she washed the dishes. Today though, the weather was disgusting, and she couldn’t wait to hop into bed.

Sarah continued to watch the darkening sky, then something golden flickered in the trees. Her eyes shifted to the grassy path just a few feet away from the house. Narrowing her eyes, she scanned the assorted trees to see where that flash came from. It definitely wasn’t lightning, as it didn’t come from the sky. So what the hell was it? Suddenly the flash appeared again, but this time it remained still. Sarah’s heart thumped wildly in her chest when she realised what the flash was.

A pair of wide yellow eyes.

“What the hell?” she breathed quietly. The hunched body remained behind an oak tree, peering at her intently without blinking. Sarah’s breathing quickened and she stepped back a few paces in shock. Those big golden eyes were staring right at her.

What the hell is that thing? Is it a dog?

She continued to edge back away from the sink, frightened that this creature would suddenly pounce forward to try and attack her through the glass window. She eventually stepped back until her backside collided with the wooden dinner table. Her eyes never left the creature, and its eyes never left her. She blinked in awe, trying to convince herself that it was a mere figment of her imagination, but even as she rubbed her eyes, that bulky hunched figure was still there. Staring. Waiting.

But waiting for what?

What does it want?

What is it?

She quickly left the kitchen and turned the light off, closing the door behind her and dashing to the living-room with an erratic heartbeat. She dived onto the sofa and fumbled around for the Sky remote, switching it to a common channel and turning the volume up high to block out any sounds that would be deemed...inhuman. Her constricting chest was almost painful, and her eyes were blurry with confusion and fear. She swallowed hard and focused her eyes on the TV, refusing to look anywhere else.

Suddenly the front door slammed, causing her to jump, and her heart picked up speed again. She listened intently for any weird noises, and her face paled when she heard heavy footsteps and shrill wheezing. How the hell did it get in?! Her eyes darted from left to right, looking for a solid weapon, but she soon realised there were none. She curled up on the sofa instead; throbbing head and trembling hands ready to act on instinct. The footsteps grew closer to the living-room door, and Sarah’s heart was in her throat by now. As soon as she saw this demon, she was gonna dash the remote and run!
