It was about, 12:07 Pm. She was sitting with some of her friends, or, shall I say aquantinces at lunch. She was staring, at everyone laughing and smiling, boys flirting with girls, girls gossiping, people eating, children not having a care in the world. The lunch whistle rang, and everyone yelled with joy and ran outside to the field for 10 minute recess. Now, even though they were in 7th grade, sometimes on sunny warm days they were aloud outside for about 10 minutes. She got up slowly, and was the last one out the door toward the field. She walked around, staring at everyone. "Skyler!!!! Come over here and play basketball!!!" A group of girls screamed at her. She sighed, drooped her head, and stayed staring at her feet. "Hey, do you like Ricky?" Ashley came up to her and asked, which, they weren't the best of friends. She looked up at Ashley, frowned, and shook her head. Keeping a complete straight face. "I was told that you guys are a perfect couple, and you should totally ask him out!!" Ashley hollered next to her face. "Sorry..." Skyler started to mumbler under her breathe, "I'm not a slut." Ashley stared at her for a couple seconds, shrugged, and ran off into the field. Skyler aimlessly started to wonder around everyone, admiring the kids playing, laughing, and smiling. She thought, how could they be so happy? No, how come they get to enjoy life, while I'm here smiling, but in true eternal pain? She looked around, noticing only 3 teachers around. None of them were near her... She sneakishly grinned, and started walking toward the middle of the field. Kids stopped and started staring at her, her beanie flopping as she kicked up her pace. Her face started turning pink, and then bam. She grabbed her beanie, ripped it off, stuffed it in her jacket, and then she hopped the fence. She started running to the other end of the field, teachers only just realizing what was happening. One teacher screamed, another ran inside, and another chased after Skyler. Skyler kept running, way too fast for the teacher. She looked up at the sky, smiling widely, and yelled with joy. She lifted her arms in the air, and started running down the street. She ran, and ran, and ran. Never stopping for a breathe, even though her sides were starting to come to pain. She ran past her house even, her grandparents outside gardening. Their eyes widened, and they screamed. They, and 3 other teachers, were now behind her running after her. People in cars started staring and rolling down their windows. This whole time, Skyler is smiling. She found this amusing. She felt free. She ran past 7-11, a gas station. She ran down route 1, a connecting highway. She ran, and ran, until she realized... where was she headed to? She doesn't have any money, besides a couple of dollars. She stopped quickly, turned around, and looked at the teachers and her family members. That's when it hit her. She realized, the river. It's her only get away. She ran down the street, trees and buildings passing her at top speed. Everyone still chasing her. She came up to a huge river, near a waterfall. She looked down, not thinking it was too shallow, she stood up straight, and jumped. Her beanie falling in the water first, her landing right ontop of it. She came up to the surface of water, and gasped for air, realizing how fast the current was, it was pushing her out further and further. Waves started pulling her underwater, her jeans and sneakers causing more and more weight. She started yelling. She started coughing. She started screaming. And then she realized... This was meant to be. She stopped splashing. She stopped yelling. She stopped kicking her feet. She stopped breathing.
Skyler's note in her bedroom: I have nothing to say, except, this wasn't any of your fault. It was my choice to do what I did. I planned everything. I don't want anyone to feel guilt. Go on with your lives, like I never existed, because even though I did exist, all of you acted as if I didn't. So, your wish, came true.
