Hump Day

A cold rush of air swept all the warmth from my body, suddenly the room had an eerie and dark feeling. Laughs echoed off the stone walls, followed by a scream. The scream of a person, a man, that would be the kind of person you'd want to know. A person you'd be worried and scared for. Although I was a very curious person, my life was what I was most worried for, so I started running. Running away from the maniacal laughter and ear-piercing screams. Water dripped from the ceiling into small puddles on the ground, adding to the many sounds of this mysterious tunnel. My shoes were soaked through and my arms were covered in goosebumps as I shivered at the draft. Suddenly I froze at an arm on my shoulder. My heart beat quickened and my eyes went wide like a deer hit in the headlights. I turned around slowly to meet a dark figure with bright red eyes. "I found you" a raspy and deep voice came from the figure. I saw them smirk before it launched at me and I screamed.

I woke up with a scream and my heart beating quickly... It was only a dream...

Across the room from me was Amanda, Jaimee and Kora. They all turned frantically to me as they heard my scream "Dan! Thank god you're awake" Jaimee sighed slightly with relief. The three made their way over to me and sat at the edge of the bed.

"You had us really worried. I can't even bring myself to be mad at you for just walking into our house uninvited" Amanda's voice was mixed with concern and smugness. I blushed slightly remembering, maybe I should have rang the bell.

"Oh um... Sorry" I mumbled out and sat up slowly and started fiddling with my fingers.

"No it's alright. Are you okay though? You just kind of walked in and fainted..." Kora frowned slightly, but was that curiosity on her face? She seemed Almost unsure of something. But that's when I remembered. both Amanda and Kora had WINGS and there was a WOLF in the room...

"W-wait. No! Y-you... You two had WINGS!" I stuttered out and backed up slightly. Kora bit her lip and looked over to Amanda, silently asking for her to speak.

"Dan, I think you were just dehydrated. Seeing things. You really should be more careful" Amanda smiled softly but still looked worried.

"B-but... I saw..." I stuttered out again and looked at all three of them bewildered. I know I saw something! I couldn't have imagined that. I'm not THAT creative...am I?

"It was probably just your mind playing tricks on you. Maybe you should rest more" Jaimee smiled softly and patted my shoulder sympathetically. I frowned at all of them, maybe I was just going crazy. But I definitely didn't want anymore rest. I only have nightmares nowadays.

"Sorry I must sound crazy... But, I don't think I ever want to sleep again" I bit my lip and directed my attention down to my hands, I was literally afraid of falling asleep.

"Why's that?" Amanda frowned and looked down at me as a sort of method or way to get me to look back up at them.

"Well that's actually kind of why I came over in the first place" I looked back up at them "I keep having these nightmares..."

"What about?" Kora looked at me curiously and I sighed. I was going to have to explain.

"Well... There are always these, bright red eyes. And a dark blurry figure, that charges before I wake up" little images in my head flashed before my eyes as I recalled these dream memories "and screams, sometimes laughter. Taunting me. But saying things I don't understand" the faces of the three were all concerned, and somewhat, knowing?

"Maybe it's just nervousness about going to Uni?" Kora suggested slowly, but she didn't sound like she believed herself more than I believed that statement. I just shrugged and decided to drop the topic, it would be better to forget about the dreams.
