Chapter 1 - Debut {Sparrow}

I tossed my backpack and shoes aside in a rush and ran towards the stairs. I stepped on the bottom one when someone grabbed my collar, effectively stopping me. "Why are you in such a rush, Suzume?" My dad asked.
"Aw, dad. Let me go. AC Online debuts in five minutes." I said, bouncing on my feet.
"AC Online?" My mom came up and I turned around.
"Animal Crest Online, the VRMMO. I'm meeting some friends there like right now." I said quickly in one breath.
My mom laughed. "This is what happens when two video game addicts have a kid, right Kazuto?" She said. Dad nodded.
"Ya, true Asuna. Just be careful while your playing, Suzume, and don't be late for dinner." He called to me. Halfway through his speech I'd kissed both my parents cheeks and was up the stairs before he'd finished.
"Dinner's at nine, right?" I called down as I opened my door.
"Suzume!" My dad scolded and I laughed, ducking into my room. I shut my door and grabbed my Digitech Headset (or Digiset for short) off the shelf. I caught my reflection in the lens of the glasses: glittering dark eyes that I knew were brown, a sweet girly face, and my dark blueish black hair pulled up into pompom pigtails.
I smiled and jumped into bed, setting the glasses on my face. "Link start!" I commanded. There was a flash of color then five circles appeared checking my senses, then a login box that automatically entered the information, a language selection, then finally the sign I'd been waiting for: Welcome to Animal Crest Online, awaken the beast within.
I opened my eyes and smiled. I was inside the main square of the first town, a lock of short dark blueish black hair hanging across my face. I was in a white short sleeved top with a black leather brace around my ribs. I also had black shorts, soft soled black boots, and elbow high white gloves that cut off partway up my fingers. There was a sheath upside down across my back, the handle at my left hip.
"Hey, Sparrow!" I turned and smiled at my two best friend both digitally and in real life. Rio, or Ringo in the real world, was the bigger of the two and had dark brown hair with neon blue eyes. His outfit was basic and various shades of brown. He had a broadsword hanging on his back. Abel, or Aoi in real life, was shorter and dressed in brown and black with a saber at his side. His red hair stood out as did his blue eyes.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked.
"You just get here?" Rio asked. I nodded once.
"Ya, dad held me up so I couldn't login the second it started. Anyway, any luck in finding the Nightmare's?" I asked, referring to their guild.
"Yep. They're meeting us just out of town." Rio answered.
"Well then, what are we waiting for?" I asked.

Instead of three people waiting like I expected there was five. "New members already?" I asked Abel in an undertone.
"Ya. Apparently they've been through six games trying to catch us." Abel explained.
"Hi, I'm Rio, the leader of this guild." He stepped forward.
"We know. My name is Naru and this is Simba. We wish to join your guild." The taller one said. Both he and his friend were in gray and orange in the exact same outfit with flipped colors.
"Alright, what kind of swords men are you?" Abel asked.
"Two handed." Naru answered.
"One and shield." Simba said right after.
