CHAPTER 1

The Emerald Legion

There once was a girl. She was not extremely tall, but not short either. She was just over five feet tall. She was a fifteen year old who was a friend to those she knew and going to become a friend to those she didn't know. This would help her with things that may happen, but she was too naive to foresee anything past her next outfit.

She lived in a small town, which was not unusual to the regular resident of her village, but to the typical tourists it was an unusual sight. The gray buildings made of stone were a daily sight for her. These stones were not just there for scenery, but also for the protection of the town, the bricks held a quality that made them nearly incapable of taking any damage, making the village impenetrable. These walls made her feel safe from any attacks upon the village, and if there were an attack she would not need to worry.

Today, it was her first day of a legitimate schooling for what she wanted to do in her life. Her parents taught her everything, but her parents could not do military training, and the empire threatened to kill them if they tried. Today for her was the beginning of a new life outside of the house, this made her the happiest girl that she could be. She was going to join the Emerald Legion. The Emerald Legion was the army where she lived, and she always wanted to join the fight for her kingdom.

She woke up, knowing that it was a day with a new chapter ready to begin. The Emerald Legion was what she always wanted in her life, and now she could participate in the fights of glory, and go down in honor. She put on her new uniform, it was jet black. Her top part of the uniform covering her torso was made out of a metal called Retrinium, and it had three emeralds going down the center, the top one for strength, the middle one for honor, and the bottom for courage. The Retrinium was mined out of royal mines by the kingdom's prisoners, and considered to be the best material for armor anywhere in the known world. The pants on the uniform, also made of retrinium, had two emeralds on the sides to show her rank. The ranking system in this army was simple to follow, every time you got a new rank, you got a new precious metal, first silver class, then gold class, then diamond class, then emerald repeating the cycle until you got nine emeralds. Every time you got a new emerald your rank name increased. You would start at Private, and go all the way up to General. The generals were highly respected by everyone, and rarely went into battle because they were masters of strategy who told their commands to the officers on the battlefield. Her helmet was made of Retrinium, and had holes to see through, which were made of glass and the glass was an inch long, and perfectly capable of stopping almost any projectiles that hit it. Inside the helmet was a headset, and screens that would show how long the armor would last before breaking as well as having uses to communicate with the generals. The last parts of the uniform were gloves made of retrinium, and emeralds to match the mantle of the sword. The sword was a Katana with a blade of reinforced steel, and a handle of jet black yarn, and emeralds to match the gloves. The last part of the uniform was the most important even though it was small. A ring which proved her loyalty to the Emerald Legion, willing to serve the people of her kingdom, and not for the people to serve her.

Before she put on the helmet, she looked into a mirror in her room. She saw herself, and smiled in the uniform. She had green eyes that reflected in the morning light shining into her window so that it matched the emeralds on her uniform. Her blonde hair became a golden color when she pulled it over her shoulder to embrace the sunlight, and as the brush weaved through her hair, it just made her hair smoother. She stopped her brushing, and put a rose-like red lipstick on, then she put a emerald green eye liner to match her eyes as well as her uniform's emeralds. She put her makeup down when she finished the application, put her hair in a bun to fit the helmet, she put on her ring, glove, sword, and she looked at herself in the mirror for a second before putting on her helmet, and as she puts it on she said to herself.
