May 10,1999

I arrived at fashion magazine at 7:30 AM. The building overshadowed all the others with its fine exterior even though it wasn't huge it definitely didn't go unnoticed. I was too enthralled admiring the building I didn't realize I had reached the door, so it was shocking and very painful when I face planted into the door smearing saliva across the once clean and clear glass to a huge spot of spit that was very noticeable, I was immensely embarrassed.

I reached for the door handle and pulled and it wouldn't budge, I tried again and it still wouldn't open. I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I turned around to see a man in his mid thirties glaring angrily at me.

"Little girl you push the door open, I will never understand why they hire people dumb as doornails to work at established places like this." He yelled while spit flew out his mouth onto my face.

He roughly shoved me out the way. I was going to snap at him but I was too stunned by his breathe it definitely didn't smell minty fresh. I decided not to make a scene instead I decided to enter the building and get negative thoughts out my head and prepare to make a good impression on my new boss.

As I entered the lobby it was exorbitant, classy ,posh everything expected for a upscale society building. The atmosphere was professional and engrossing. I felt a bit nervous and out of place, just like high school during presentation time. I took a seat in a luxurious chair that probably cost my entire apartment. Considering it was pricey it should have been comfortable. I kept sliding off and rearranging my seating position eventually I gave up because I was drawing attention and people were staring. I decide to just stand, I couldn't help but feel self conscious. My outfit didn't blend with everyone else's you saw business suits, pencil skirts and blouses. Then there's me in a hot pink sundress making a statement.

"EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME! Ms. Drucilla, Ms. Halcro is ready to see you!" a overly perky blonde shouted.

"I' m so sorry I'm just a bit nervous" I said in a frantic tone.

" I apologize for shouting Ms. Drucilla I will be escorting you to her office which isn't on this floor so we're going to take the elevator."

No shit what else would we be taking? I thought.

"Is she nice? " I asked as we entered the elevator.

"No very mean and rude most of her assistants don't last that long but you didn't hear that from me."

Well at least she was straightforward. She pressed floor 13.

I immediately tensed but I tried to act nonchalant but the woman noticed.

"Miss are you alright?" The woman asked showing concern.

"I just get a little nervous when it comes to elevator since I seen the movie Devil and I also believe in the 13th floor superstition. "I explained to the woman.

"Everything will be fine." she said giving me a reassuring smile

I really hope so I thought.

It got quiet too quiet I hated silence so I decided to tell a joke.

"You may look around you and see two different groups of people white collar blue collar but I don't see it that way you know why not because I'm collar blind."

She snickered.

But once again it was quiet how long does this take? I decided to look at her outfit to see how I should dress her hair and make up was decent and her outfit fit the rich people look. Then I looked at her shoes and before I could stop myself.
