I stood outside the restaurant; Jiko. The place where Tarzan, or at least the actor, asked me to meet him. Only 5 minutes till it was 1pm. I had called Allan and explained why I was gone for so long and that I truly was sorry for bailing on him. He told me it was okay, but he was a liar. I needed to make things up to him somehow. But right now I'd like to focus on now. I was seriously meeting Tarzan in four minutes. Was he gonna wear his Tarzan costume or look like his normal self?
"Excuse me, madame, are you waiting for something?" I heard a voice behind me. I took a deep breathe and turned around to find a tall blue eyed fella. He had brown hair and a great sense of style.
"Uh, what?" was all I could say. He chuckled.
"I'm Bryan." he then said. Was that the Tarzan actor?
"Tarzan?" I slowly asked. I know I sounded like a complete idiot, but it just fell out. He chuckled again.
"Please, just Bryan for now. I'm not really allowed to be at the park after a shift." he said and smiled. Gosh he had nice white teeth. I moved a little closer and got his eye contact. I recognized the blue eyes and smiled.
"It is you!" I exclaimed. We both laughed and went inside. The restaurant was so cool. It looked like an actual african restaurant. We were greeted by some waiters. They obviously knew him.
We found a place at the bar. Thank god I'd just turn 21 this spring!
"Would you care for a Zebratini?" Bryan exotically asked. I giggled. He clearly had a sense of humor. I nodded. He made it sound crazy interesting.
"Hey Ayo, two zebratini's." he said to the bartender. The bartender took a quick look at us and smiled.
"Right away, sir." he said with a thick african accent. I looked at Bryan.
"Sir?" I asked. Bryan chuckled again.
"Yeah, I used to work here. But then the casting director, Britney, came by and said that I should try some casting for Tarzan. And I did." he explained.
"So, you got the job as Tarzan?" I asked. Why did I even ask him that? What a stupid question! But Bryan didn't take it so hard. He just laughed.
"Yeah, apparently I look and sound like him. I'm thankful for my mom taking me to drama school when I was 10, or else I would be doomed." we laughed. Ayo, the bartender came back with our drinks. I took a little slurp of the zebratini. Actually really nice. It tasted of Espresso, Captain Morgan and chocolate liquor.
"It's really good!" I said and took another slurp. Bryan looked at me funny. Was I drinking too much? I quickly placed my liquor on the bar table and tried to act like a woman. He smiled and took a sip of his drink.
"So, tell me, what's your full name?" Bryan asked.
"What?"
"Is your name really Lizzie?"
"Oh, no, it's actually Elizabeth Mary Ann Parker. But I like Lizzie or Liz a lot better." I said and grinned.
"It's a pretty name though." he said. I felt my cheeks burning up. I felt like I was on a pink cloud and that nothing could bring me down to earth again. But of course there were.
"Liz! We found you!" I heard Melissa scream at me from behind. She, Tommy, Doug and Allan ran over to Bryan and I. Oh no!
"You must be Tarzan!" Melissa said to Bryan and shook his hand.
"You can just call me Bryan." he said nervous.
"Mel! What are you doing here?!" I whisper shouted at her.
"We didn't mean to interrupt your date, sis." Tommy laughed. I stared back at Melissa.
"You told them?!" I yelled.
"Date?" Bryan asked confused. Oh no. I knew things were too good to be true. We all looked at Bryan.
"Look, you're a nice girl, Liz, but I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that this was a date." he admitted.
"Well, if it wasn't a date, then what was it?" I asked. My stomach felt ill. I suddenly didn't want anymore of that drink.
"Britney is having castings for a new Jane actor soon. And you look a lot like her. So, I just invited you here so we could talk business." he said and took a sip from his zebratini. My heart fell to the bottom of my body. I didn't know what to say. I mean, yes I wanted to play Jane, but I felt like my heart was crushed. Kinda stupid. I mean, Bryan and I didn't really do anything other than talk, but I felt a connection between us.
I kept being silent. I just looked at Bryan like a total moron. Bryan then looked funny at me, and then at Melissa who thankfully came to my rescue.
"She'll think about it." she said and pulled me from my chair outside the restaurant, leaving Bryan alone in the restaurant. Allan, Tommy and Doug followed us of course.
"Breathe sweetie." Melissa informed me. I stood with my head in my hands trying not to flip out.
"What was I thinking?! Of course it wasn't a date! Why should it?!" I started yelling. Doug and Tommy put a hand on my shoulders.
"Screw that guy!" Tommy then said. "You'll find another!" But was that true? The spark I had with Bryan was that one-of-a-kind spark. I just knew it!
