When I got home I ran to my room and rang Ethan, waiting with bated breath to see if he would answer.

All I got was beeping.

What is Emma doing with him? Why isn't he...?

My thoughts were cut off as my phone started ringing.

'Hello?' I asked, my voice shaking

'The Miners... The Miners are in control...' Ethan's voice whispered from the other end of the line before the call was cut off.

'ETHAN!' I yelled, shaking the phone in desperation, trying to call the number back.

He sounded so weak, so tired. Emma's still got him, and is using him to send me messages, messages she knows I'll react to.

And who are 'The Miners'? I've never heard of them before.

I'll have to tell Hale and Nolan tomorrow.

I met Nolan and Hale on the way to school this morning, wanting to tell them about the call before anyone could over hear.

'We'll see if it was Emma soon enough,' Nolan muttered as we entered the SEP building.

We walked down the corridor to our lockers when really loud music started to play.

My eyes widened along with Hale and Nolan's as we turned out backs to the lockers, our brains working overtime to try not to miss anything.

We heard footsteps coming along the corridor in time with the music and everyone's heads swivelled in that direction.

The first thing that I saw was black material with hints of red and white.

Emma was at the front. She was wearing heeled black ankle boots, a black and white striped tube skirt and a white blouse with black cuffs and collar.

Her hair was pulled into 2 low bunches at her shoulder, drawing attention to the tiara perched atop her head. It was small but definitely noticeable. It was made up of mostly sliver jewels with black ones spelling out: 'Miners'.

That's what Ethan said yesterday.

Behind Emma came Kat and Tetra. They were wearing matching black lace dresses with a coloured belt and bag, Tetra's white and Kat's red.

I was most interested in their bags, despite their sudden need to dress identically.

On one side of their bags 'Miners' had been written in black jewels on a background of silver.

The boys even had 'Miners' printed onto their shirts.

'One question,' I called out, hearing the music stop abruptly as all five of them turned to face me, 'Why miners?'

'Easy,' Kat said even though I continued to stare at Emma, 'Miners always come out on top of a day's work,' she smirked as she returned to her place in the formation.

'Why won't you answer me?' I asked, stepping toward Emma.

'She's the Miner Queen.' Tetra replied, moving into my line of sight. 'She only speaks to people who are worthy, unlike you,'

'Didn't you see the crown?' Kat snarled sarcastically and I narrowed my eyes.

'What are you planning?' I hissed,

'Something that if you knew, would blow your mind,' Emma said, finally talking before carrying on down the corridor with the peasant miners following behind.

'That's clever...' Hale said and I raised an eyebrow, 'Miners... Come out on top...' he trailed off as Nolan punched his arm and I couldn't help laughing at him.

'Listen to everything they say, they might let something slip,' I muttered before walking in the opposite direction.
