Okay, like I said in my other story, I mainly do fanfiction (although, my original story is getting a wonderful response-thanks to everyone! Please go read it and comment and vote!), and this is my fanfiction that's on my Quizilla account. I've had some great response to that as well, so I figured, why not post it on here too?

So...vote, comment and enjoy!

Prologue

The VMA's.

Just another award ceremony in the eyes of some. That some being the artists that are nominated for one. It didn't matter whether or not they won another award, just as long they got to show off their outfits. That's all these things have become. It didn't matter about the effort, it mattered about the clothes. But to me? It meant the world. It was my chance to shine. I had won a competition, to have a chance to be there. It wasn't televised, and it was announced a few weeks before, giving hardly anyone enough time to prepare. But I still managed it.

I wasn't going to be filmed. I was going to entertain the fans before the show began, but not while everyone was being seated. But none of it mattered. All I wanted was to be spotted. I had done. My best friend had entered me into the competition, and I had won. Now, all I have do, is not mess it up, too bad.

I checked for a millionth time that I looked okay. Of course I did. I looked perfectly fine and different. I was a little pissed off that my best friend, Alison, had decided to buy me a pair of velvet Doctor Martens. Not because I wasn't grateful, because I was. I mean, I absolutely adore them. It's just that she's been having financial issues, and splurging on me is the least sensible thing to do.

“It's okay, you deserve it” she had said, after I had protested. Even though I had argued with her all the way through the day, she didn't let up. That's what I get for having such a generous, stubborn bitch of a best friend.

“1 MINUTE!” yelled a stage guy, entering the door. I took in a deep breath, and looked in the mirror one more time. My black skinnies weren't falling down, my black vest top wasn't revealing too much, and my velvet red DM's and my red and black stripey cardigan added a splash of colour.

Was I dressed? Yes. Was I ready? No where near.

I put on my geek glasses, checked my red lipstick, and took in another deep breath, before following the man out to the stage area. It was here that my life changed. But it wasn't just because of the music. Oh no. Turns out, my life changed because of many reasons, ones I hadn't even realised before. They say that life only has one path, one road, and wherever that road leads you too, is your destiny.

Oh, how wrong 'they' were.
