In Iowa a very unhappy couple Anne and Richard have a two year old son named jake and both want another child but neither can agree when they are fighting one day they hear a random knock on there door when they answer it they find a baby in a blanket with a note saying you guys were chosen and a letter which said to give when they met. They exchange glances and after months of work they eventually adopt the girl and name her Mckenzie aka Kenz when Kenz reaches three her parents divorce and have split custody of her and her brother jake having separated parents causes her to grow to be very opinionated and close to the rebellious side.
Meanwhile the same day Anne and Richard get Kenz two high school lovers very wealthy are at the adoption agency when they are given there daughter Melissa who the social worker says that when the parents gave her up they gave a letter to the adopting parents to give to her when they met neither understanding they take the letter and their daughter home to there mansion in Wyoming where they raise her to be an honor student who always listens and never get into trouble.
Anne Kenz's mom has been in a relationship with Barry a paleontoligist for two year and here is the wedding Mom do I have to wear this dress Kenz says Kenz please it is my wedding can you just do this for me just once says Anne fine Kenz says she then walks out to the church seating area and soon finds her best friend Caleb and sits next to him meanwhile Melissa walks into the church after finding out she was adopted she wants to find her parents and all she could get was the address of this church so as there is a wedding she of course goes to find if any one as seen a women in her thirties that looks similar to her when she finds Anne she says excuse ma'm have you seen a women in her thirties who sort of looks like she could be my mother. Anne thinking it is her daughter says what are doing honey I don't have time for your pranks now go get dressed A very confused Melissa goes to find someone else who might offer more nonconfusing help walks of down the church hall meanwhile Kenz gets up for. Talking to Caleb and goes to get her dress from her moms dressing room so she should get changed. Hey mom Kenz says Kenz what are you doing I just told you to go get dressed what are you doing says her mother Kenz says Mom have no idea what your talking about but I came to get changed and my dress is in your dressing room so can I get dressed she says walking into the room very confused after about half an hour the reception is nearly over and they are all starting dance Melissa just sits hoping her mother could would recognize her as her daughter while Kenz is dancing with Caleb she looks around the room and sees what seems to be a mirror at first until she realizes that she isn't wearing those clothes she decides to walk over towards what look to be a person looking extremely like her
