Book of secrets

Chapter 3

Melissa's p.o.v.

(Knock knock) the oh so familiar door opened, and revealed grams, "hi grams sorry that we're late" mom said as she stepped through the door, "late? oh dear, your at least 10 minutes early... as always" grams responded as we all went into the kitchen placing the food we bought, "right, well then what about I start cooking? and you go in and relax-" mom was interrupted by grams saying "dear i may be old, but i'm not that old yet, besides you always work so hard" grams pushed all of us into the living room  and then returned too the kitchen, while mumbling something about, mom always working so hard and that she should just learn too keep quiet and relax once in awhile. 

"Haha, doesn't grams always do that to you mom?" Nick asked tossing a ball, and then catching it again, "she does, I just want too help her, but your grandmother has always been a strong woman, not letting anyone help her, like she's keeping a secret you know" "i'm sure that's just you're imagination mom" I laughed, I always got a bit uneasy when mom or anyone for that matter, began too think we where keeping a secret, i don't know why but I just didn't like that people could find out I guess. "here you go everyone!" grams came walking in with some snack bowls, "yummy!" I said taking one of them, "dinner is going well Ellen it will be ready in an hour or so" "yes of course, well what should we do in the mean time?" mom looked at me then at Nick, "what about some board games, i have some good ones up stairs, Melissa dear why don't you go with me, then Nick you can help your mom with getting the table ready" "yep sure grams" Nick stood up and walked over too the dinning table taking some of the decorations of it.

"which game was it?" I asked as I stood on a chair trying too reach one of the boardgames that was lying on the top shelf, "just take the UNO cards dear" as she asked i reached up and took the cards, though the chair tumbled and I was going too fall down, waiting for the pain too hit me, I realized it didn't happen, "what the?" I opened my eyes seeing, that I was floating? "oh my goodness" grams said looking completely mesmerized, there was pink light flying around me the fairy dust following, I slowly controlled the magic and landed on my feet, watching the light fade away like someone turned it off, "that was exactly what I wanted too talk to you about my dear, since your powers are strong enough too use on earth, you will need training so that you can control your magic" "I guess your right,  but how did I just float I thought-" "it's hard to use levitation spells on humans yes, and what's more impressive is that it was pure instinct that made you use your powers, you didn't even say the spell out loud! if you can use that much power now, you're are really something special" grams hugged me, 'special may be cool, but it's also dangerous, does this has something to do with my dad?'.

"Are you okay up here?" Nick walked over too us, "oh we are just fine, it's just that your sister found an old picture album of mine" "I did?" grams looked at me with the play-a-long-look, "oh right I did" "I should take it down stairs so we can look in it!" grams opened the cabinet and took an old dusty book out, she blew the dust away so we could see the title "photo album" "okay we're ready downstairs so let's go", we all went downstairs and took a chair, "how's the dinner coming along Ellen?" "oh just fine grams" mom gave a sweet smile, as she sat down on the chair, "so what game are we playing?" mom asked looking at me, "actually Grams and Melissa found one of the old family albums" Nick answered for us, grams put the book in the middle of the table, and opened it. 

*A few pages later*

"Haha!! did grandpa really look like that? he has longer hair than me!" I laughed holding my stomach as i said this, "oh he did! he had it like that for five years" grams said laughing with all of us, "why did he change it?" Nick asked looking at our grandpa, "well he got together with me of course! you children really think that the old man would cut his hair all by himself?" we continued too laugh, at how stupid they looked at some of the pictures, and listening too the funny and weird story's grams could tell from the memories of the different pictures, I continued too the next page and mom suddenly stopped laughing as she just stared at the pictures that was shown on these two pages. "mom? are you alright?" "what? oh yeah just fine... i-I should go and check the food" she said quickly leaving the room, grams sighed and looked at the picture, "wait is that... dad?" I asked tracing my fingers over the edges of the picture, there was five pictures on the pages, one with dad as a teen, a picture of him and mom when they went out for their first date and the others was of the entire family.

"You know, I had never seen him so happy, the look on his face when he was holding the two of you, a happy family, it was hard for all of us, but your mother have never gotten over him, she can't handle too look at one single picture of him not even hearing his name..." grams said as a tear rolled down her cheek, "we know grams, i was six years old when he left, and Melissa was only four, we didn't really understand what happened but we know that he loved her" "that's also why it's so important that you stay together as a family, and that your the man in the house, now why don't we go out too check on her?" grams closed the book and walked out too the kitchen with Nick right behind her.

'I hate this! they don't know what happened too him at all, me and grams don't know either but we know more, mom and Nick just thinks that he disappeared or left, but grams and I know that it has something too do with the book of secrets something happened too him and it was because of magic'.

*Time skip too after the dinner*

Mom have been kinda quiet through all of the dinner she was worrying us all, though i know she's going too be fine it's just hard. "thanks for everything grams... I am sorry that I got a little-" "no need to apologize dear I know it's hard, I lost him too, but you're strong and I know you can get through it, i'm looking forward too seeing you all soon" "you too grams" we all said at the same time, we laughed a little, then turned around and walked too the car, "okay kids, let's get home and get ready for school" "that sounds like a plan" Nick said and smiled slightly then buckled up. At home we started too pack our stuff for tomorrow, (Beeb Beeb) 

Sara: Hey Mels are you ready for school tomorrow?.

Melissa: are you kidding? I have packed everything! but I still don't feel ready you know?.

Sara: yeah totally! (*v*) hey have you heard from Jake yet?.

Sara: He was in Italy this summer right?.

Melissa: he was, but I haven't heard from him at all don't worry he'll be there, listen i gotta go but see ya tomorrow.

Sara: yep okay Mels see ya.

I tossed my phone onto my bed and walked over too my bookcase, "hmm... hey bookie you can come out now" I said, and the book again surprisingly listened, it changed from the twilight book, back too it's original form and flew of the bookcase and around me, "whah okay, wait so i'm going too school tomorrow, and i can't leave you here now can I?" the book shook it self looking like someone was shaking there head no, "well then, should i bring you with me too school?" the book jumped up and down, "i'll take that as an yes" i laughed slightly, as I went into my walk-in closet and changed into my pjs, "right good night bookie" the book flew back too the bookcase and hid itself as an twilight book once again, I got comfy in my bed, as I turned off all the lights, and slowly drifted of too sleep, not realizing that i was still wearing the sky ward necklace, and that it started too glow a warm red color, and a bit fairy dust sparkled deep within the stone.
