I put the bottle to my lips and took a long swig. I hate being this drunk but lately I can't see another way.
I am always at the pub now.
It wasn't always this way. I used to have everything in the world.
I was in school on the track to following my dreams, I lived in my dream city of London, and I even had the perfect cliché romance you read about in books.
Now I am graduated from college with a minimum wage job at the local Starbucks and an empty flat to welcome me home each night.
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Nothing has ever really worked out for me before. But I still can't believe he forgot his promise.
(One year ago)
It was my senior year of college and I couldn't be more ready to get out of school.
I came to London for school a few years back. I loved it here. I never had felt like I belonged in the US anyways.
I walk toward the direction of my class smiling, seeing my adorable boyfriend waiting for me.
He was sitting on a bench right in front of the doors to my lit class, reading from a huge stack of papers I had given him last night.
As I walk over to him his head jerked up from the papers and he faced my direction. He flashed me a huge smile as he flicked his mop of red hair out of his breathtaking blue eyes.
"I love it! I can't tear my eyes away!" He said excitedly. "I mean it love; you are going to be the next up and coming author. I can feel it!"
I looked at the mass of papers. He was reading the manuscript to my first book.
"You really think so?" I ask unsure. "I was worried I wasn't detailed enough. You know I have never thought I was good at writing." I looked down at the ground.
Ed stood up and strode towards me. He placed his hands on my shoulders, forcing me to look up at him.
"Don't you ever think that, you hear me? You are an amazing writer and I guarantee you will get this published." He placed his fingers under my chin and gently placed a kiss on my lips.
I smiled, letting out a small giggle. I grabbed his face bringing him in for a kiss. The kiss was long, gentle, and sweet. I have always loved his kisses because they always felt perfect. Whether it was a small peck on the cheek or passionate kiss, they all felt the same.
They all filled my stomach with butterflies.
The kiss grew more passionate, hungrier.
"You know I could always skip this class and ask Clare for the notes." I bit my lip and kissed him again.
"Oh no you won't. I will not be an excuse for you to skip class." He was only centimeters away from my face. His lips moved close, barley grazing my own. "Besides, I wouldn't want your parents to hate me anymore than they already do."
I pulled back, surprised. "My parents do not hate you!"
He laughed.
"Yes they do. You must not remember thanksgiving. "
"Oh." I said softly remembering the holiday dinner where Ed flew back to my home town in Maine to meet my parents.
They didn't hate him. They hated the fact that we were dating. They said they didn't approve of his lifestyle choices.
