We entered the house and everything seemed normal, "Wait!" I heard my mum call. I stopped dead in my tracks, what was it? "Stay here." she continued as she dashed up the stairs to my room leaving me at the foot of the stairs, confusion evident on my face. "What are you doing in my room?" I called up to her, my patience wearing thin. "Hang on, I won't be a second!" she chirped down the stairs, I had no idea what she was so happy about, it was kind of weird. She came skipping back down the stairs and just laughed once she saw the confused expression plastered on my face. She walked towards me and pulled one of my bandanas out of her pocket and asked me to turn around. She began to tie it around my eyes as a blindfold, "What are you doing?" I demanded whilst trying to wriggle out of the bandana.
"Just hold still, It will make sense in a minute." she reassured me, I could hear the smile in her voice as she spoke. I turned back round allowing her to secure the bandana. She grabbed my hand and began to lead me up the stairs towards my room, I heard her open the door and I knew we were standing in my room now. "Seriously, what is going on? This is getting a bit weird now." I chuckled. She simply untied the bandana pulling it away from my eyes and I nearly collapsed at the sight in front of me. In the corner of my room was a drum kit, it wasn't even second hand. It was new, it was shiny and it was mine. The excitement was growing inside me, I felt like I was going to explode, and flowers and rainbows would pour out of my body I was that excited. I practically jumped on my mum nearly knocking her over, and engulfed her in a bear hug. "Thank you!" I squealed like a kid on Christmas, "But how did you afford it?" my happiness turning to worry, we don't have a lot of money, and what we do have shouldn't be spent on such luxuries, "I got a promotion at work, things are going to get a lot better from here on." she reassured me, her smile never failing. "Well go on, give them a go." she insisted. I didn't have to be told twice, I leaped across the room and took my place behind the kit. I picked up the sticks and let my arms and legs do their thing, my mind wandering free. I looked up at my mum who remained by the door and saw the joy practically radiating out of her, drumming made me happy, and seeing me happy seemed to make her happy. This was a very happy household at the moment, and I didn't want a thing to change.
A few hours had passed and my arms and legs felt dead, but I didn't want to stop, I couldn't drumming was my drug and I was addicted. My mum had stayed and watched me the entire time, I'm surprised she hadn't asked me to stop. She was sat on my bed, her eyes shut and the corners of her mouth were turned up into a smile. It's strange, last night I was the cause of her tears, but tonight I was the cause of her happiness, it felt good. As the silence began to fill the room her eyes fluttered open, "That was amazing." she said, "I never knew you were that good, I mean I have only ever heard you banging away on your djembe, but that was something else altogether." she said motioning to me sitting behind the drums. A huge smile had formed on my face, "Uhm, thanks." I mumbled, I never have been good with compliments, and I don't think I ever will be. She just smiled at my awkwardness as she rose from the bed, "Well, I'm going to go and make dinner, I'll call you when it's ready." she said and with that she was gone. I remained in my seat for a few more minutes, not even playing, but just admiring my drums. They were mine, all mine and I couldn't be happier. Finally I stood and walked over to my bed to sit down, I pulled out my laptop and searched YouTube, 'Forget You - Cee Lo Green Cover' I clicked on a few before I came across a boy I vaguely recognised, his username was 'Hemmo1996' I sat there and watched his cover. It was honestly pretty good, it had a few views and likes, but not too many. I clicked subscribe and scrolled through his channel, there were only a few videos up there, but they were good, fair enough the quality wasn't amazing but he was a good singer, and just as good at playing the guitar. He had guts for putting those videos up, most people don't consider it to be cool, but I do, and I'm guessing he just didn't care about what other thought. Watching his videos only made me want to copy him, I signed up to YouTube and made an account, if he could do it so could I. Before I had the chance to do anything else my mum was calling me down for dinner, it was my favourite - mum's spaghetti.
-I'm sorry it's so short, but something is better than nothing? I'll try to update soon... maybe. AND OH MY HAVE YOU HEARD MONEY?! IT MAKES ME WANT TO DANCE SO BAD :')
