Chapter Twenty-Four - Like Old Times

I was lying on my bed in the middle of the night thinking about the Doctor. I turned my phone on and looked at my messages. 2 missed calls, 2 new messages. The missed calls were from the TARDIS's phone. The Doctor must of tried calling me before realizing my phone was in my room. Then on to the two messages. Nothing really. There was one telling me about how my phone company has a new offer and one telling me about some voicemail. I just left them and tried to get some sleep. Tomorrow is a new day.

I did my usual boring routine in the morning. I ate some breakfast which normally was just a bacon sandwich, get changed and go to work. Work was so boring. It didn't help that for some reason more people come into the store on a Monday. One 40 year old woman came in and she reminded me of the day Chloe and the Doctor met. He was being weird and I thought he was weird. She came in to buy some food and the whole time she was in the line all you could hear was Prrt. It didn't half smell a lot. I tried to ignore it but I couldn't. Yeah, she could have had wind but it was disgusting and weird. "You okay miss?" I asked her. I generally asked the customers this but I only did it to be polite. I was interested. "Yeah I'm fine today. Nothing weird, nothing... oh." Prrt. "Sorry love." She paid and left. Something wasn't right and I had a feeling that she wasn't normal. I don't know why but she seemed a bit... Slitheen to me. It was time for my break anyway so I followed her.

She walked into an old abandoned house on a street corner and locked the door so I had no chance of getting in. I waited round the corner on a bench. It was more boring waiting than working. My phone started vibrating in my pocket and then came the impossible question. Should I answer a call from the TARDIS or not? I answered it. "Hello." I said.

"Hi. I'm sorry about the way I acted the, what is it in your time? Yesterday? Whatever. Anyway, I was wondering if you want to go Slitheen hunting." The Doctor said.

"First of all I forgive you. Second, I'm wondering if it's the same Slitheen that I've found."

"You are brilliant. I'll be right there." He hung up and I smiled. Then I heard the sweet TARDIS noise again and waited in my spot for the Doctor to come. He finally came after nearly going the wrong way and his annoyed face after realizing made me laugh. "Oi, don't laugh." He said as he got closer and I was still laughing. "Okay. I'll stop." I said trying not to laugh at his stupidity. Oh I missed this."Lets go catch some Slitheen. First though, did you bring vinegar?"

"I thought you would. You found them first."And then we had to go to the nearest shop and buy three bottles of vinegar.

The house was like any normal house. Obviously the wallpaper was coming off the walls slightly and it stunk but it was expected. "So where are these Slitheen?" I asked. Then we heard a farting sound and heavy footsteps coming down the stairs. We hid behind a sofa and waited until they had walked out of the living room. We had to peek around the sofa then get out because it felt almost too quiet. "Okay. I'll go upstairs and look. You go to the garden and try to distract any of them." The Doctor said and we separated.

I hid in an old wooden shed at the end of the garden and shouted, "Oi, big green things. I'm all yours." Then waited. Nothing came for about five minutes but soon I heard footsteps coming towards the shed and I got my bottle vinegar ready. The shed door opened and I chucked some of the vinegar over the Slitheen. Well I was only reacting. It was actually the Doctor and now he smelt disgusting. "Thanks." He said wiping some of the vinegar off of his face with a tissue I gave him and I found it hard to hold my laughter in again. "Sorry." I said then burst out in laughter. "Doctor look out!" A Slitheen grabbed the back of his neck and I threw vinegar over the right alien this time. The Slitheen exploded and we were covered in green goo. I stunk as well. I felt sorry for the Doctor because he smelt of Slitheen and vinegar. It wasn't a good mix. 

We walked around the house again. I was checking upstairs and heard a woman crying. I walked into one of the bedrooms and a Slitheen was sitting on the bed crying. "Just kill me. You and your friend have already killed everything I love." She said. Oh my. She was crying about the Slitheen we just killed. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry but he attacked my friend." I walked closer to the Slitheen guessing that she wouldn't do any harm. "You killed my brother. But I don't care anymore." I was confused. One minute she was sad but now she was saying that she didn't care. I kept edging closer. "Because now I have an excuse to kill you." The Slitheen lunged for me, grabbed my neck and pinned me to the closest wall and holding me in a postition where my head was squashed between her hand and the ceiling. My breath was going fast but I had enough energy to quickly pour vinegar over her head. The Slitheen let go of me and I fell flat on the floor coughing. Lets just say my face hurt and that will give you an idea of what I landed on first. And once again I was covered even more in goo. The Doctor came running into the room and helped me up.  "Where's the Slitheen?" He asked. I looked at him weirdly and answered, "Where do you think" then looked down at my clothes.

Me and the Doctor walked to the TARDIS together. We stopped at the doors. "Today was fun. I'm probably going to get fired for being late back to work but it will be worth it." I said.

"Well, you don't have to go back to work. You could come back to the TARDIS. All them planets and galaxies we haven't seen yet. What do you say?" The Doctor smiled hopefully.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world."

The Doctor took me to mine and Mackenzie's house and I got all of my stuff together. I left a note on the dining table and some money for my half of the bill payments. The note said, "Travelling again with the Doctor. Thanks for everything. Call me again someday. My key is under your flowerpot next to the door. From Anya." I locked the house door outside where the TARDIS was and slid the keys under a flowerpot that was next to the door like I said and entered the TARDIS. This was what I wanted. Me and the Doctor traveling in the TARDIS together.
