" KAILEIGH !!! " my mom yelled. " WAKE UP ."
i decided to lay there & think about what my first day at East Side High would be like. i hated being the new girl. it draws too much attention & too many unwanted opinions. no thank you. my mom & dad split up which is what brings me to Atlanta. don't get me wrong, i love my mom.. but im a daddy's girl for sure. I got up & hopped in the shower. after 15 minutes, i got out & applied lotion, deodorant, & my undergarments. i went to my closet to find an outfit. I decided on a maroon crop top, a white skater skirt, maroon ankle socks & my white timbs. i went over to my dresser to pick my accessories. I decided on a simple chunky gold chain, a few gold rings & my pandora bracelet that my dad got me. then I unwrapped my waist length, long. straight ironed, black hair. i parted it down the middle and added my gold head piece. i went into my bathroom and put on my eyeliner with a cat wing and mascara. i grabbed my clear lip gloss & walked out. I sprayed my perfume on & took a few pictures. i grabbed my backpack & headphones , closed my door & jogged down the stairs.
" you look good Li Li. i like that baby. " my mom cooed.
" i get it from the best mommy. " I replied. she finished her cup of coffee & hugged & kissed me.
" i love you. have an absolutely fabulous day my love. i'll see you when i get home. "
" i love you too mama. " i said.
we both grabbed our keys & walked out. i drive a black 2014 Jeep. my mom pays for pretty much everything. always has. that's partly why my parents divorced in the first place. i plugged my aux cord in, turned it up and turned it to my favorite song Blasé by Future & pulled out. i wanted to get there on time since i had to go to the front office. as i pulled into the parking lot, everyone started looking at my car, probably because my music was blaring. i pulled into a parking spot & hopped out. i headed to the front door but I couldn't help but to notice the stares i was getting. it kind of bothered me but i shook it off. i got my schedule & my locker and headed to my first period.
August POV
I was sitting in Mrs. Johnson's class with my boys when the door swung open. in walked this fine shorty. long hair, short & lightskin. she was BAD. but i didn't want her to notice me staring so i played it cool.
" i know you see that fine thang right there. " my boy Chris said. all i could do is laugh. he has no chill.
" she ain't even all that. " i lied.
" nigga , the door. she fine as hell." Qua said. they were right, but they didn't need to know that. Mrs. Johnson introduced her.
" class, this is Kaileigh Moore & she will ne with us this year. " she asked Kaileigh to sit down and the only seat left was the one to my right. Thank the Lord. she walked passed me smelling good & sat down. she pulled out her pencil & paper & started on the problems on the board. she was a month late, but from the work that she was doing you could tell she knew what she was doing. but my dumbass spoke up anyway.
"uh.. you uh.. need some help?" i stammered.
"no thanks. i think i got it. but thank you anyway. " she smiled. her teeth were perfect.
" no problem. by the way, my name is August. " i reached out to shake her hand.
" my name is Kaileigh, obviously. " we both laughed.
" erm erm, what's so funny? " Mrs. Johnson asked.
" nothing. we good. you can continue now. " i spoke up. she rolled her eyes and focused on Kaileigh.
" this is your first day miss Moore & i'd hate to be the one to write you up. hush. " she snapped.
" yes ma'am ." she looked down & was quiet.
Kaileigh POV
the bell rang & i got my backpack & got up. Someone called my name & i turned my head. it was August.
" yes August? " i asked.
" umm.. let me see your schedule. " he said. i handed it to him and he examined it. " i can walk you to your algebra class if you want me to.." he told me.
" sure, that's cool. thanks. " i said. he replied with no problem & lead the way. we got to Mr. Harrison's class & he faced me.
" ok, here we are. " he smiled.
" thanks loser. i'll see you in lunch. " i said. he walked off & i walked in the classroom. i walked to the front of the class & went through the whole introduction process again & sat by this girl. she was pretty. she was taller than me, darkskin, hair down to her mid back & she could dress.
" Hi , im Chyna." she smiled.
" hey , im Kaileigh." i shook her hand and smiled. the teacher said we had a free period so we sat and talked.
" so you're an only child?" she asked.
" yes ma'am. I kinda wish i had a sister though. " I replied.
" well hey, we may not be blood or anything, but i can be your sister. all i have is older brothers. " she laughed.
" yeah, sisters. " i added & laughed. we exchanged numbers and continued talking. she saved hers as " bestf ❤️👭🔐 " @ i saved mine as " bff 👭💙😍 ". the bell rang & we walked to lunch. when we got there, a guy walked up to me.
" wassup ma?" he asked. Chyna jumped in for me.
" move around Mello, she doesn't want you." he sucked his teeth & walked away. i busted out into laughter.
" oh my god, that was hilarious Chy. " i said in between breaths.
" forreal Kay, he a lil thirsty thang. "

the bell rang & it was finally time to go home!! i hopped out of my chair & walked over to Chy.
" heyyy b !! " she yelled. i laughed at her.
" hey Chy. " we sat there roasting everyone & then a bus rode by.
" damn man!! i missed the bus again & mama is gonna KILL me if she gotta leave work again.
" i gotchuu. let's go. " i told her. we walked to the car & got in. i plugged in my phone and played My Shawty by Dej Loaf. we sang along as I pulled into my driveway.
" uhhhh kai, we supposed to be going to my house. remember??" she laughed.
" girl, I forgot. you wanna stay for a lil bit??" i asked.
" yeah, that's wassup. " she said. we got out and went into the house. we ate , did our homework & watched Netflix.
" Let me get home before my mom gets home." she laughed. I grabbed my keys & walked out. i took her home , grabbed me some taco bell & went home. when i pulled in, I noticed a familiar face standing outside at my neighbors house. i got out & realized it was August. he waved at me to come over so I walked over there.
" wasssup Kai? " he asked.
" Wassup Aug? " i giggled.
" i see you brought me food " he said motioning to the bag.
" aint no way. " i laughed.
" that's cold Kai. "
" i knoww, you'll be okay Auggie. " i said.
" you right. gimme yo phone. " he demanded. i handed it to him & he went to contacts. he saved his number as " my future ❤️💍 " .
" you better use it too! " he said.
" i will aug. " i giggled. we laughed and walked back over to my house. i ate & took a shower & cleaned & decided to text August.

" that's good li li. get some sleep ok? "

" i love you more. " and then she walked out. i pulled the covers over my head & drifted off.
