"Honey, I need you to go out shopping today." Lee, your husband, states, one fall afternoon. You stare at him, your eyebrows raised. "What?" You ask. He sets an $100 dollar bill on the counter, grinning. "Go to Barnes and Noble or something for a couple of hours, okay?" He says. "But why?" You ask as he ushers you out the door. Lee puts his hands on your shoulders and squeezes them. "When you come back, there will be a delicious dinner waiting for you." He replies. You stop walking and turn to face him, thinking this is a joke. "You're going to make me dinner?" You laugh. He nods. "Lee, we've been married for two years and not once have you cooked me dinner. The one time you tried to, you almost burned the house down." You state, grinning. Lee grins sheepishly. "I know, but I've been practicing." He replies. "Please, Y/N, come back in two hours." He pleads. You smile and kiss him. "Of course." You comply. He smiles and pulls you in for a long, deep kiss. "Thank you, my love." He replies.

2 hours and 15 minutes later, you're home. You open up the door and immediately take a step back as a strong whiff of smoke smacks you in the face. The house is smokey and you rush in. "Lee!" You exclaim. "N-no! Don't come in!" Your husband exclaims, sounding harried. The smoke detectors are blaring. You skid to a halt when you see Lee blowing a fire extinguisher into the oven. You look around the kitchen in horror. It looks like a tornado wreaked havoc on everything. "Honey..." You start. "Don't! Please don't say anything!" Lee exclaims, exasperated. You hold up your hands in surrender. "I'm just gonna go open the windows." You state, walking away.

As you pop the last window open, Lee comes into the living room while taking off his baking gloves. "I'm so stupid." He mutters, sinking into the couch wearily. You sit down next to him and rub his arm. "No. No, you're not, honey." You say softly. He looks at you. "Y/N, I was going to cook you this amazing dinner and I destroyed it. The only thing I did right was set the table." He states. You glance at the beautiful table Lee set and you smile. "It is beautiful." You reply. Lee sighs. "I just wanted to do something nice for you." He says. "It's the thought that counts." You offer. He stares at you, his shoulders slumped. "Look, Lee, why don't we make use of your beautifully set table and order a pizza?" You suggest. "Okay, that sounds good." He answers, brightening. "And I do know for a fact that we have ice cream in the freezer." You say. "And I could possibly make brownies or cookies..." You trail off. "If the oven is ready for it." You giggle. Lee nudges your thigh, smiling. "I'm never going to live this down." He murmurs, laughing. "I love you, Lee, even if you can't cook." You say, smiling. He kisses you. "I love you too." He returns. You pick up your cellphone. "I'm gonna go order us some pizza." You state, smiling.
