Darkness

It illuminated.

A void of pure darkness surrounded her. Yes, she was unconscious and immobilized, yet she could clearly sense her surrounding, sending cold chills down her inactive spine.

A-Aren't I dead?

In a short millisecond, a very loud thump was heard from her chest. It moved up and down in a fast yet heavy pace. A heavy breathing echoed inside the unknown place... no, it's a void. The thumping became gradually louder, faster, clearer... the heavy breathing soon turned to be a cracked voice along with panting. She thought that she was dead... but no, she just couldn't breathe.

The moment a pair of amethyst eyes opened widely, she had tried to desperately gasp for air once again but she couldn't, there was suddenly no oxygen.. in that exact same room, in that very dark prison. She struggled for air to fill her empty lungs. Yes she wanted to die, but she wanted to die with ease, with less pain. But she was naive. There is no such thing as an easy death, death is full of sorrow, pain, very traumatizing pain. It hurts so much that you even forget you're already dead... yes she was dead... or at least.. she should be dead.

Sapphire held her slim neck with both of her thin, cold hands, trying to receive air. Earlier, she could still breathe but now, she couldn't, she was very much lacking oxygen. Though something was undoubtly strange. No matter how long she couldn't breathe, she couldn't die.

Why? I just wanted to die! Why couldn't I?!

She stood up with a pained expression, dark circles around her amethyst eyes, still trying hard to breathe in that impossible place. Sweat rolled down her porcelain face as she tried to look for even just the smallest light possible... if there even was one. Her orbs trying to adjust in the darkness as she pulled and gripped the neck of het shirt desperately, still searching for air. Her face turning completely pale and purple.

Please just... just let me die!

Faint sound of footsteps were quickly heard in that void, until it became continuosly louder. Suddenly, in the middle of the dark void, stood a dark yet noticable form of a silhouette. He was wearing a dark blue clothing, little chains hanging loosely around his waist. Half of his face was not yet visible for his hood was covering it. His long, dark cloak swung from left to right blending perfectly with each and every step he took. Her heart skipped a beat in nervousness as the footsteps stopped in front of her pitiful state.

"What's wrong? Can't breathe?" A cold, lifeless voice resonated through her ears, it sent shivers down her spine. It felt as if the person in front of her was not human, but something much more. It felt as if he was a dead soul in a body of a human... but was he a human?

Sapphire visibly froze on the spot, she couldn't move, even if she tried telling every part of her body to freaking move. Fear was dangerously consuming her. The person who stood in front of her looked dangerous. In a sudden second, she felt weakly limp. All of a sudden, her knees fell to the ground, shaking, shivering much because of the lack of oxygen. It's as if she was kneeling down in front of an incredibly powerful yet unknown creature that dwells in the darkness deep within her soul.

Sapphire opened for mouth shakily to speak, but no voice came out. She struggled until she was... no, her body was, unfortunately, at it's limit. She couldn't control her own body at will anymore. It was lacking so much oxygen that it fell and collapsed on the icy-cold ground.

Suddenly, the unknown man simply walked nearer her. He knelt down easily with one knee, snapping two of his long, lithe fingers in mid air. As the snap echoed in the dark void, oxygen suddenly filled the place in one blink of an eye, making Sapphire gasp loudly for air desperately, finally realizing how weak and frail her thin body was.
