Back story: Uriah has trained in the prestigious District 2 academy since the young age of 6. His father is a blacksmith who works day after to day to pay the tuition, he and his older sister use to live and train at the academy, only seeing their parents after the term had ended in the winter and summer. 3 years ago, his older sister Kendra volunteered for a young 12 year old at the reaping and died in the arena when one of her allies turned on her and plunged a knife into her back. Uriah was devastated along with is mother and father and swore to avenge her death by winning the games.
