Usagi 61

>>>>CHAPTER 61<<<<

>>>>A Reunion of the Strange Kind<<<<

Once again, Usagi had left the village without permission.

After hearing the news that Sasuke had killed Orochimaru, she simply couldn't help herself.

ANBU had followed her as she left, hunting her down under the orders of a certain grumpy old man, but Usagi got rid of them all with ease. All her training had paid off.

Despite the fact that she wanted to be mad at Nagato for everything he and Akatsuki had done, she couldn't bring herself to do so when he had helped train her so well and for so long. For almost three years she had snuck out regularly, making her way to Ame where Nagato would assist her in learning to properly control her jutsus. He had mastered the rinnegan, and he wanted her to do the same. Nagato wasn't a bad person... she had been too harsh on him.

The person she needed to be harsh on right now was Sasuke.

Tsunade and Jiraiya had told Naruto, Sakura, and Usagi the news. Sasuke had killed Orochimaru. But he wasn't coming back to the village.

He was chasing after his brother, ready to finally get the revenge he had been craving for so many years.

By chasing after Sasuke, Usagi knew she was no better than he was. But then again, she wasn't trying to be better than him, she was just trying to bring him back.

Naruto had suggested a different way to go about bringing him back to the village. He suggested they go after Itachi Uchiha to locate Sasuke.

While Usagi knew this idea would work, but she wanted to see Sasuke before he found Itachi. That's why she snuck away again.

... Her dad was gonna be so pissed when he found her.

It started pattering down with rain as Usagi jumped through the trees... Where exactly would Sasuke be?

Perhaps she could use this rain to her advantage.

Nagato had taught Usagi the Rainmaker jutsu. It was his prized jutsu, one he had invented himself and regularly used to keep track of who was in Ame. He had entrusted it to Usagi.

Yet all she would hear from Konoha was how evil the Akatsuki was. But was it really so evil of Nagato to want to protect his village? To want a better world?

Kakashi had forgiven Usagi for all the mistakes she had made. Perhaps she needed to forgive Nagato.

Usagi waved her hands upwards, her palms facing the sky. She concentrated, needing the jutsu to cover a wide area. It took a minute, but the rain grew heavier, Usagi being able to feel the presence of anyone who was being touched by the droplets.

There were a number of people in her range, though she couldn't sense their chakra from this far away. The only way to tell which one was Sasuke was to get closer and hope for the best.

---- ---- ---- ----

Two teams had been sent on the mission to track Sasuke Uchiha. There was Team Seven with their newest additions of Sai and Yamato tagging along, and the three students of Team Eight.

They had split up into the deep forests once the rain had stopped, fanning out and searching in all directions in an attempt to try and track Sasuke's scent.

It had worked to an extent, the teams having an idea of what direction to search in, but it wasn't enough.

Before any of them had found Sasuke, a large explosion caught their eyes. Each person could see it from where they stood, despite them all being in opposite directions. It was absolutely huge.
