Nicole's POV
I found myself smiling when I got off the ferris wheel, almost nothing would ruin my mood now. The day had been eventful and fun, one of the best days of my life. I excused myself from Josh as I needed to use the bathroom and told him to wait for my by the ferris wheel.
I entered the bathroom and quickly did my business before washing my hands and checking my make up. I felt someone watching me and I turned around coming face to face with someone I recognized. I didn't know her name but her face could be seen everywhere at our college. I was surprised that the name hadn't reached my ears yet.
"Hello," she said. "You know, Taylor Hudson. My dad runs the Hudson Oil Company.
That explained a lot. She was a blonde curvy girl wearing a miniskirt that barely covered her butt and a low collar t-shirt that was short showing her naval piercing. Her hair was perfectly straight, not a single strand out of place and her nails were perfect like she had just come from a salon. You could tell she was wearing a lot of make up making her face almost look fake, or like a mask. To be honest, I never liked to wear much make up, it was almost disgusting to see a girl like this. Like me, she was wearing all brand name clothing and accessories. She was a pretty girl, no doubt, but maybe she could wear less make up and let her true beauty show through.. I don't know, just a thought.
"Hi," I stated flatly.
"I saw you earlier getting friendly with Josh. I heard you two are dating?" she smiled.
"Yes, actually we are."
"Well I just wanna tell you that he's a great guy. He is. I'm his ex by the way."
"Oh, okay." I forced a weak smile back.
"Just make sure you don't get too attached. His relationships don't last."
"What do you mean?"
"Answer this. How did you guys meet? Did he have one of his friends get too friendly with you and then he comes through like a hero? Did he have his friends as a distraction for you while he checked out other girls at a restaurant? Take you to a party on purpose knowing that you would mess up and that it would cover for his mistake? Tell you a touching story about his bro? All of this, is like a routine that he goes through with every girl he seems to like at the beginning. He'll get on your soft side to get into your bed once or twice. Then," she snapped. "He dumps you. Just like that. But I thought you would've figured this out by now. You're a smart girl right?"
"Yea... I thought I was... Well thanks for informing me," I spat. I found my anger boiling up inside me and she sounded sincere. I stormed out of the bathroom and toward Josh. I threw the bear at him saying," Here, have this back and thanks for using me." I stomped away tears spilling out of my eyes.
I had trusted him, loved him even. How could I have been so stupid and not seen this coming? And I thought he was the one. All my emotions were mixed right now. I was angry, but most of all, I felt disappointment. In the back of my head, I hear a little voice telling me, maybe she's lying. Of course she is. Ex's always do that right? But when she was talking to me, she never hinted that she would want to get back together with him and how would she know all that stuff?
I shook my head as I tried to clear my thoughts. I heard Josh start yelling behind me and my walk turned into brisk run as I left the fair grounds heading for his house. Suddenly remembering that I didn't bring my car, I took the house key from under the door mat and rushed inside bringing the key with me. I locked the door and ran up the stairs running into a random room. I reckon that he only has one house key because for the next 20min, all he did was bang on the door downstairs.
