After hours upon hours of hard work and even harder button pressing, I finally unlocked PaRappa's solo story. Time to start Stage 1, or Fire Fire! This is where things began to go downhill. The first stage's name was: "The Beginning" The cutscene showed PaRappa cheerfully walking down a sidewalk, with nobody there except the occasional car passing by. No music played, but sounds were very much playing. This walking went on for 5 seconds, and then it cut an overhead view of PJ's house. Then music started playing, but it was a broken mess of piano keys, it then cut to PJ playing the piano, seeing that it was him who was making the noise. PJ saw PaRappa entering the house, and then the cutscene ended.
The stage began, and everything seemed normal. But then, I saw that PaRappa had this saddened look upon his face. I thought this was a minor glitch until I heard the first line, "PaRappa, what's been bothering you? Put out this fire and then tell me." PaRappa didn't say anything, even after I pressed (mostly) all the buttons correctly. The stage continued with Chief Puddle telling PaRappa to be happy again while maintaining the rapping style. PaRappa didn't even do any sort of motion as I kept pressing the buttons. As soon as I heard "HAVING FUN...WITH THE FUNK!" The button prompts just vanished and the music stopped. I thought I'd won, until I heard Chief Puddle say, "Please tell me what's wrong, PaRappa. You aren't acting like yourself at all." PaRappa just looked up at him sadly, and then the stage ended, like I had beat it...
