Amy's POV
I grunted, turned around, and rolled my eyes as what's-his-face walked towards me. "What do you want?" I scoffed. "I came to apologize.. For being an ass.." He trailed off. "Yea well I don't need your sympathy. Now, if you'll excuse me I have a garden to tend to." I lied. "A garden? Seriously?" He asked, giggling. "Amy!" Delilah's voice called from somewhere behind me. I looked back to find her running towards me out of breath. "Hey L-" I began. "Who's this?" She asked sticking her hand out to this prick. "Names Christopher, but you can call me Chris." He smiled. "Names Delilah, you can call me Lilah or Del." She smiled. I scoffed.
"What was it you wanted?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Oh! We have a new neighbor! And a new house guest?" It sounded more like a question than a statement. "What?" I asked. "Come on I'll show you!" She said grabbing my hand. Chris waved goodbye and I flicked him off as I grabbed my bike and made my way to our apartment.
We walked in and I was greeted by a cat I had never seen. It was a calico with green eyes. I was soon greeted by our gray and white tabby with its pink nose and gray eyes. "Hey Smitty!" I smiled petting her softly. "Where'd you find this one?" I asked picking up the calico. "I don't know! He just showed up on our patio and I took him in!" She exclaimed patting his head softly. He purred and I giggled setting him down.
A knock on the door distracted me. I went over to answer it but almost slammed the door when I saw who it was. "Hey! I'm your new nei- oh." He muttered disappointedly. "Your our new neighbor?!" Del asked from behind me, excitedly. I would've used a different tone. "Come in! I was about to make some sandwiches for lunch." She smiled, I faked a gag. He ignored it and took a seat on our recliner.
"ANYWAY, what should we name him?" I asked Del, referring to our new guest pet that had just taken a seat on Chris' lap. "I think his name should be Misty." Chris said petting the cat. "No one asked you, and he's a guy." I sneered. "No, but he's my cat. I lost him when I was moving in earlier this week." He said. "Oh.." Well wasn't I stupid? "Can mine be a pb&j?" Chris asked from beside me. "Just take what you get!" I said coldly. A hurt expression hit his face and I suddenly felt guilty. "Look, I'll leave, I know where I'm not welcomed. It was nice meeting you Delilah. I guess I'll see you later Amy." He whispered to himself as he picked up Misty and headed for the door.
I was about to slam the door when he interrupted me. "Look, I said sorry. Can you at least try to be nice to me? Is that too much to ask for?" He begged. I stood there silent. "Fine. Bye Amy." He said walking away. "Don't come back, okay?" I snarled slamming the door.
"You can be such a bitch sometimes." Del hissed. My jaw dropped. "How can you say that?" I asked. "He was being nice! He didn't do anything wrong! So what? Maybe I don't know the whole story but he was trying to be nice! And you just stood there being SO rude! You know what? Don't talk to me if that's how you're gonna treat people." She hissed before walking to her room.
She was such a soft person. She hated it when people were mean or 'bullies'. I felt bad hearing it from her that I was being an ass. She was my best friend, and she never said anything hurtful towards me unless it was true. I sighed and walked to the door. I walked out and over to Chris' apartment and knocked. He answered and his apartment looked like a mess from what I could see. "What do you want?" He asked softly. "I came to apologize, I'm sorry for being a raging bitch." I whispered. "I'm sorry, okay?" I whispered to shut myself up.
It took me by surprise when he hugged me. He hugged me tightly and I hesitated before hugging him back. Only thing was that it wasn't a friendly hug. It was a kinda hug that said ' I never wanna let you go.' "Its okay Amy." His voice muffled into my hair. He released after a few minutes. There was an awkward silence before I broke it. "Need help? You look .. Er .. Uh, busy?" I said nodding over to the mountain of clothes. He chuckled and nodded.
I started by stuffing everything in a corner and throwing all the shoes to the closet.
"So tell me about yourself Amy." He chuckled. "Nothing special. I'm just a normal girl I guess." I began. He shook his head in disagreement. I ignored it and continued. "I was born here, my parents died in a car accident before I could even know they were my parents. I was raised here and I met Delilah. We became best friends and I moved out my foster home when I was about 13 and was taken in by her parents. They loved me, but they died in a house fire a few years later." I sighed. It wasn't hard for us to overcome the death of her parents, since they were always telling us they wouldn't always be there for us.
"They pretty much gave us all their money and we moved here, finished school and stuff. We didn't have that much money so we never went to college or anything. Like I said, I'm nothing special. Just ..." I was cut off by my lack of a word. I sat thinking for a second or two. "Just.." I tried figuring out what I was trying to say.
"A Jane Doe." He whisper-smiled to himself. I smiled to myself and felt his hand touch mine. I yanked away quickly and smiled up at him. "Sor-" he began.
"Why is it so ... Cramped in here?" I chuckled quickly. "Well, I had a few days off and I needed to get ready for when I come back from touring." He said. "Touring?" I asked. He nodded. "Yea, ever heard of warped?" He asked. "Nope!" I said popping the p. "Well, basically, it's about 50 bands on a few stages throughout the whole summer. Different venue everyday." He sighed. "Oh.. Sounds tiring." I chuckled. He sighed and nodded. "Wait, so you're in a band?"
"Yea! We're called NeverShoutNever. Pretty calm stuff compared to some of the other bands that play warped." He giggled. "So how long do you have before you leave?" I asked. He was about to answer before we were interrupted by a knock on the door.
He walked over and answered it. To my surprise it was Del and what surprised me even more was what she did. She grabbed him by his collar and kissed him. His hand moved towards me but then stopped and landed on her cheek. I didn't know why but this hurt me. "I came to apologize about Am- oh." She stopped mid-sentence when she saw me. "It's okay, we're friends now." He said quickly. "Yea, friends." I said giving a weak smile.
