(Third Person POV)

It was like an arrow had just struck the King directly in the center of his heart.  A meeting was taking place in the throne room with his council when he nearly fell out of his throne; his guards rushing to his side.  Before he could be helped up, he was already sprinting down the long halls of the castle and up to his daughter's room.  He flung her door open and spotted her laying on her bed; pale and lifeless.  Her body was covered in cold sweat as all heat had left her body.

"No!"  Ayden fell to his knees beside Ambrissa's bed and his cheeks became wet with deep pain and sadness.  "She's not dead."

The King brought his head up and held his daughter's hand in between his own; trying to force his magic into her body to bring her back.  "King.  She's dead."  Jace spoke up; his voice cracking.

Ayden snapped his head in Jace's direction only to see that his face was covered in tears, and his face softened as he turned his attention back to Ambrissa.  He knew that there was no hope; if his magic couldn't bring her back then nobody else's could either.  His head rested on his daughter's stomach and everything was silent.

After a long while of painful silence, the King looked up at the princess's face and noticed the small vile around her neck.  She had never taken it off; it had to have to deal with the connection that she had with Goldar.  Ayden clenched his fists and stood up; he had to free Goldar for his daughter.  He kissed Ambrissa's cold forehead and left the room.

When he returned to the throne room, everyone was waiting patiently for the meeting to continue, but they noticed a different aura around the king.  "Majesty?  Is everything alright?"  Soraijya, the Keeper of the Hot Plains questioned.

Ayden waited a few moments before clearing his throat and answering.  "Along with protecting this kingdom from the upcoming war, we are going to figure out how to free Goldar."  Murmurs ran among the council.

The King turned his back on his council and folded his hands behind his back.  "People have tried for years to free him.  It's impossible to do so."  Saphira, Keeper of the Frozen Isles stated.

"My daughter was able to communicate with Goldar for a short period."  He turned around raised an eyebrow.  "That means something.  It means that there is a way to free him and fulfill my daughter's dying wish, since she cannot anymore.  She is dead."

The women in the room gasped and the men sighed.  Ayden received looks of sympathy from everyone, and he ended the meeting.  He sank down in his chair and buried his face in his hands.  His one and only daughter was dead, and now he would have to send word to Melonia that their princess was dead.  Having another child wasn't an option; Ambrissa wasn't ever even supposed to happen, yet she still did.

The curse that was put on him stopped him from doing so, starting when he was just a young child.  Ambrissa still happened and that's why Ayden had dedicated the rest of his life to finding her.  She would've made a great queen one day and now it was all ruined and it would never happen.  Tears fell down Ayden's cheeks and his heart ached; feeling as if it was slowly shattering into billions of cracked pieces.

'Kayden.'  He mind linked his first-hand, not feeling like searching for him.

'Ayden.  I heard what happened.  I'll inform Melonia.'  Kayden's voice was full of sadness, yet it remained stern.

'Thank you, Kayden.  Tell them that my daughter will remain here.'  If Embra had given Ambrissa to him all those years ago, then all of this could've been avoided, and now she wouldn't be able to take her away from him again.

Kayden stepped through the portal, and walked up to the palace entrance.  The guards let him through; noticing the urgency in his expression.  He found Kirain first, and walked up to him.  Kirain looked up and raised an eyebrow.
