It's been raining hard for over an hour now and I took refuge in a 24hr convenience store. 4am says their digital wall clock and I am having an instant cup noodle with a bottle of water.

Both the young cashier and the store manager were staring at me. Probably because I was hanging onto the hot cup noodle for dear life. Well you cant blame me I was cold and wet. I shifted to my right as I placed my knapsack on the chair beside me to check if my clothes got wet.

Fishing for my cellphone, no messages and no missed calls. Who was I kidding I have no family and friends. Well, I was hoping the local supermarket will accept my application I filed yesterday. No such luck I guess. Who would hire someone like me? With no family, friends and recommendations. I cant even hold a room for a whole month, which classifies me as a NPA, no permanent address person.

The sudden crack of thunder brought me back from my reverie. I finished my luke warm instant noodles and tried drying my waist long wavy chestnut hair from the rain. The store manager approached me slowly and offered their staff comfort room for me to clean up and change my wet clothes. Hesitating for a minute I followed the guy behind the cashier to the staff comfort room.

After 10mins, I was happy and content to feel my dry and warm clothes, I went back to give my thanks to the store manager. I just turned 17 and am trying my best to get a job. Gathering enough courage, I asked the store manager if they have a job opening. Guess lady luck finally gave me some slack. I was hired on the spot and was immediately briefed on the rules and regulations. Oh and did I mention that it came with a free meal and bunk bed?

A year later

Jason, the store manager was closing up for a weeklong holiday break. I was busy with the inventory while Alex, the cashier was doing his sales report.

An hour later, both Alex and I were bidding Jason goodbye as we all exited the convenient store that was my house also for the past 11 months. Now, I got myself a small room just a block away from here. Jason was on his way to Australia to spend his holiday break with his family. As for Alex, he will be going back to Texas to take over the family business.

"Alex, dont be a stranger okay?" I bid him goodbye as I walk the other way towards my building apartment. I felt a bit sad so before going back to my small yet cozy room I decided to take a detour and your ff to the bus stop I went. I got off a park which has the most luscious tree around it. I sat at the bench and stared at the swaying trees. Somehow they give me comfort but at the same time they bring back the tears from my past.

Shivering from the cold night, I pulled my jacket as walk from the deserted park to the bus stop hoping to catch the last trip.

"Please let me catch the bus. I dont wanna spend the night out here besides I'll be 18 by midnight, such a sad and cold birthday this will be for me...again. Forgeting time while staring at those trees wasn't a good idea Ezra." I whisper yell to myself.

But when I reached the bus stop, a pair of hazel orbs stared at me. I was so attracted and mesmerized that I froze on the spot. "You missed the bus, my love." Said the God like stranger with the pair of hazel orbs.
